Nikki Sivils Layout-Day-and Sketch 178 For Scrapbook Challenges

Whoa....stop the internet! I am blogging two days in a row!!! Whoo hooo!!! Call it a miracle, call it getting my act together, call it what you want. I am doing this right after work, so I have NO excuse later to put it off!!!

I love this paper line from Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker...yes she is a personal friend, but I would love it anyway! I love fun paper to work with and this is FUN! Who would have thought of black for Valentine's?? NOT me! Pink all the way baby. :) And the entire layout, except the ribbon, is ALL Nikki's papers!!! How cool is that?! Using my new Slice I was able to create the titling, letters, and hearts super easy and in a flash! That includes the shadowing on the word "therapy". :)

Here is the entire layout from my sneak peek yesterday. I am so happy with this layout. You know how it is when things just come together?? This was layout was one of them. It helps that I used one of Pamela's fab sketches from Scrapbook Challenges. Scrappers, there are some great sketches over there to get you jump started on your mojo if you are lacking it after the busy holiday rush.

Supplies used: Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker-Patterned paper/Stamps (U R My Favorite Line) Warm Cord Brads, Craft Flag, Willie B Font Stamps; Ribbon is unknown; Cat's Eye Ink, Tombow and Glue Arts Adhesive. Die Cutting-Making Memories Slice (Basic Card 2, Think Pink, and Mix & Mingle) Border Punch-Martha Stewart

And if you are in the Springfield Missouri area on January 9th, 2010 be sure to stop by Scrapbook Generation in Springfield. They are having a Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker Day to celebrate Nikki's success and to DEBUT TWO of the new lines that are going to be at CHA at the end of January!!! I have a couple of the lines in my hot little hands and they are EXCITING and DIFFERENT! And Nikki asked me to help her and I am super excited that we FINALLY get to work together in the same spot! There are more details on Scrapbook Generation's blog....that's a link guys!!!! There is a special class that day that you need to pre-register and pay for. And then there are some fun mini classes that are free! So stop by and say hi! I would love to meet you.

Here's the sketch that Pamela did for the layout above....It just made me want to do it the moment I saw it. :) And she will soon be announcing the new members of the Scrapbook Challenges Design Team! I can't wait to find out who made it!

SKETCH 178 By Pamela Young for Scrapbook Challenges

Ok, I am outta here....might go order some Slice cards (hee hee) and then make some Thank You's...or I might just veg! Haven't figured it out yet....but I do want an excuse to play with my Slice!!!
Hugs!!! And watch for the Kiki-Art layout this week!

Kiki Art sneak peek, Nikki Sivils sneak Peek, and Fun at Christmas!

WOW, what a whirlwind it has been these past couple of weeks. I can't believe that I haven't blogged. Every time I started to, I would get distracted and do something else or I was working on my scrappy gifts that I gave.

And....I TOTALLY forgot to take pictures of all of them. as soon as I can get some pics of them I will post them. They turned out super cute and I think everyone liked them. I am going to definitely make some more.

Here is a sneak peek of my second DT layout for Kiki Art! This one was a challenge, one of our themes was winter/Christmas/holidays. Everyone, including me thinks Red and Green for Christmas. I really wanted to use certain pictures, so I had to think outside the box. It was challenging, but I love the end result. I will post the entire layout after it appears on the Kiki Art blog this week.

I don't have a layout to post of this one , because I can't just yet. BUT, I am going to post a sneak peek. :) It's the upcoming sketch for Scrapbook Challenges.

The layout is done with papers from Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker line "U R My Favorite". So NOT traditional colors for Valentine's day but fun, for sure!

AND the letters/phrase/hearts were all made with my PINK SLICE!!!!! I am LOVING this Making Memories is not paying me to say this, I just LOVE it! I am still getting the hang of it....but it's pretty easy once you get going. And, I am learning out how to place the machine to save paper somewhat too! I only have three cards, but I want more! This is a great portable machine and I think I will get a lot of use out of it. I also have a Pazzles, but I need to get it set up by the computer and that is going to take some moving of some I haven't played with it hardly at all.

Ok, well I am off to sleepy bye land. I hope everyone had a great holiday wherever you may have been. I will be back hopefully on Tues. with a posting. Trying to get a few more in before the New Year!

OMG...a layout with a KID in it!!!! And Nikki's Winner

Hi guys!!!! Nikki has posted her winner for her layout challenge. Congrats to Paula Hanna! And you can check out the announcement and her layout HERE!!!!

This is the first "holiday season" that I have been scrapping. I have lots of plans....a few Christmas cards to those that would appreciate handmade cards, some scrappy gifts that I am planning on making to give, and a few holiday decorations for the house. Note the word "PLANS or PLANNING"! I am currently making a Christmas word banner with Nikki Sivils North Pole Night's collection. The mini paddie to be exact. Letters covered, check. Edges inked, check. Creative ideas of things to put on the letters.....mmmm....check????? I am currently stumped at the moment. I have ideas or have done 4 of them...the other four...well, I need to think on a bit! I will post some sneak peeks this week. The A is SUPER cute and I don't think I can top it for the other letters, so it will be the one letter that stands out I think.

And I RARELY happens on here...a layout with a KIDDO, CHILD, YARD MONKEY (yes....I love this term!) you name it there are not many on here. I don't have any really "small" ones to scrap...although I may have to take my co-worker up on the offer of her kids...they are super cute and one is quite the poser!

This layout is ME! Yes, I was bald as a baby...well, until I was around FOUR! No hair to speak of and the only time you knew I had any was when the little ringlets would from at the bottom of my neck when I was hot!

This is me at 1 year old! This October Afternoon paper just rocks! LOVE IT! And think I have to get more of their product soon. So fun to work with and everything just flowed! You may see more of my kid pics soon. Mom brought me a few to scrap with and I am just scanning them in and reprinting them to scrap. I really don't want to do anything to the originals. So, enjoy the layout and if you, my readers, EVER have any feedback for me or my layouts...PLEASE give me a shout out. I am still learning and hope to never stop. And if you give me an idea or a might just get featured on here!!! How about them apples...or oranges...or turkeys...since it is the holiday season!!!!

Supplies: All October Afternoon Cherry Hill papers,
Prima flowers, May Arts Ribbon, Lace unknown,
American Crafts Thickers, Paper Studio Chipboard letters,

a variety of Martha Stewart Border Punches,
Cat's Eye Inks, Fabric Tac and Tombow Adhesives,

Ranger Paint Daubers

Free to be Me, Nikki Sivils North Pole Nights, and Thankfulness

Well, it's Sunday and a rainy Sunday at that. Everyone is talking about being thankful for things this month, since it was Veteran's Day and US has Thanksgiving this month. I am thankful for the fact that most of the time we are free to be ourselves. Our veteran's have fought for our freedom over and over and this is something we all need to remember. This post is a little late in coming this week, but I wanted to say this.

I am so thankful that my friends allow me to BE ME! Being me is an interesting thing...just ask any of my friends! I am a little on the quirky side, a little too independent about things that I want or that I think I need, a little loud (ok a lot loud) and can be moody! I can come up with some strange stuff to do, but in the end it turns out fun. (nothing don't be getting any ideas!)
So this layout is about me just being silly.

I don't think I will ever grow up.....always love to laugh, always love to get my way, etc. I am just a kid plain and simple! I hate to's not fun.

And I love folding corners....I think it just gives an added touch to a layout that needs something else and you aren't sure what to do. I have to stop myself from doing it on all of them though!!!!

Supplies: My Little Shoebox Imagine a Forest line,
mini alphas, transparency, and
chipboard; Cat's Eye Ink; Prima Flower;
Martha Stewart Loopy Punch

And be watching for some Kiki-Art goodness!! I should be getting a box soon of all they have to offer and that I get to play with!! I am SOO SOOO excited to be a part of this team and I can't wait to get started...I think you are going to be surprised at some of the stuff Kiki has in store for everyone!

Also, I am making a Christmas banner out of Nikki Sivils "North Pole Nights" line! I can't wait to finish it up. I am waiting on a couple of things that I need to experiment with on making before I can finish it. I hope to have it done around Thanksgiving time for sure. Here's a pic of the papers...they are so fun...and easy to cut up. The ledger paper is my fav. of this line...although, I am a pink girl, so the whole line just ROCKS! So snatch it up for your holiday layouts and even your NOT holiday layouts!!!! Also, Nikki has a CHALLENGE going on for some scrappy goodness!!! Check out the challenge post HERE. There is still time to get a layout done and entered.....this ends on Nov. 20th.

a NEW layout and back from Retreat

Hey everyone!!!! I made it back from retreat. I think I had a scrapbook retreat hangover until this morning. It was great fun and I will post some pics from the retreat soon! I took a couple of classes with Lance from Rusty Pickle and learned a few things/tricks to help with my mini book skills! Who couldn't use those?!

My goal for retreat was to try things that I had not tried before...get messy and just have fun. Well, I only got 3 layouts done, one 1/2 done, a snowman altered (will show him later) and the two mini books that I took classes for. Now seems like it might be ok....but I was there from Thurs. thru Sun. afternoon....not a lot of work completed!!! But I had fun going around talking to everyone and just enjoying not being at work! I met some fun people (Hi Ania!!!!), laughed until 3 or 4 am everynight and played back up for Kimmie, who killed the spider! As soon as I get pics of it, I will post...ever heard of having to use RED EYE on a spider??? We have proof!!!!

Here's a layout about my Thicker obsession! I created the collage in Picnik, even though I have PSE. I ended up going with the paid version of Picnik, because of the collages they have and the shine fixer...great for oily skin like mine!

Have a wonderful night and I will post more tomorrow!!!! Hugs!
Supplies: October Afternoon Cherry Hill papers,
American Crafts Thickers
Tim Holtz Crackle Paint Rock Candy,
Perfect Pearls, Making Memories Paint

New Site for Scrapbook Challenges!!!

Hey Everyone!!!!

No layout today, darn Twilight series of books! I hadn't started them, but finally did. I am finished with Twilight and have started New Moon. Watched Twilight last night and the books are SOOO much better!

Anyway, the sketch team I design for Scrapbook Challenges has MOVED from MySpace!!! It was not an intentional move on Pamela's part, but several people could not get into the group at all, or when we did the setup was messed up, etc. They have had trouble before, so Pamela decided to move it. AND it is SOOOO much better now. We are all excited about it and the possibilities that we can do with it! And there is even a CHAT forum!! So if you are hanging out on the forums and want to chat, you can pop in and see if anyone is around. How fun!!!

Here is the new site and PLEASE come join us!! SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES There is a gallery on this site, so you don't have to link thru photobucket to show off your work...and the work is all in the gallery, so if you want to just drool over layouts/projects you can!!!

We do not have new blinkies right now, so I am going to leave my blinkie on the sidebar, but I will change it to link to the new site!!!

Pamela has great giveaways for participation and we would love to get to know those that love sketches!!!! She has great sketches and sketches are great for those Mojo blocks we all experience from time to time!

And for giveaways, check out Amy is GREAT over there...she has giveaways all the time, tips, videos, and just plain fun!! There is also a message board and gallery over there. You know you want to post stuff for everyone to see!!!

And the best think about both is that they are both sites. So, if you learn to navigate one site, you will be super comfortable on the other!!!!

So come join us!!!!

Poor Blog and a NEW LAYOUT!!

SSSAB=Scrappy Sisters Separated at Birth

Ok, MAJOR crazy week here!!! Training at real job (the one that pays for the scrappy supplies), scrapbooking injury, and no scrappy time adds up to what I feel like is a neglected blog. Poor I missed you!

I had a sore back and thought I had a UTI, once you get those, you are always prone. Well, when I visited the doc, she said "does this hurt" as she was pushing on my lower back...Well, let's just say I about came up off the table. "Nope," she says "it's your SI joint (or something like that) don't lift and twist." Well, I couldn't for the life of me figure out what I had done to it. Then it dawns on me.....I had went to a crop and let me tell you, I take never know what you (or your scrappy buddies) might need. You guessed it...lifting my rolling tote to get it in and out of the car or into the house!!!! Laugh, go ahead, I know you want to!! I did when I figured it out!!! is getting ready for their GRAND OPENING this weekend! If you haven't checked out the site yet, please do. The forum is already rocking, we have a gallery that you can show off your work, both digi and traditional scrappers will find this site FUN! The traditional side is still in the works a little, but there are challenges to be happening for BOTH groups to participate in. Stop by soon and let us know you found us and stay awhile!!!! (As more details surface, I will be sure to keep you updated here on the blog too!)

I went to the Habitat for Humanity Crop this weekend and had a BLAST. How many layouts did I get done, you ask........ZERO! I met a new scrappy friend and we have decided we were separated at birth and I had so much fun!!!! Karen is on Spellbinders design team and you can check out her work HERE!!!!!
SSSAB=Scrappy Sister Separated at Birth Karen coined the phrase and I love it!!! I got quite a few pics at the crop, I hope to post some more this week!

Here's the layout I started at the crop and then the mouth took over and well,.......oh look...a butterfly.....and I never finished it! So, I worked on it tonight and it fell together pretty quick. I used the Bo Bunny letter stickers as a mask and just inked over them and then pulled them off. AND, I found some of the new Martha Stewart deep edge border punches, so I got to use it on the layout! It's the brown lattice border at the top. LOVE it...I got another one that makes a daisy type chain totally punched out strip....super cute, will hopefully get to use it tomorrow!!
Well, I have prattled on enough, so I think I am going to go clean up the scrappy mess and get some shuteye! Thanks for coming by!

Couple of Layouts to Share!!

Hi everyone!!! It has finally quit raining buckets here. It's been cloudy/rainy so it has been a little hard to take pics.

I got a couple of layouts done this weekend, YEAH!!! One is just a "fun, no strings attached" layout I wanted to do about a lady that is very dear to me. Bless her heart, she has tried to teach me some things in the kitchen at Christmas and she has the patience of a saint. Luckily, I didn't "ruin" the pie dough that she tried to teach me how to make one year! This pic isn't from then, but it will always remind me of her kitchen.

Supplies: Cosmo Cricket Early Bird line papers, American Crafts Thickers, Jenni Bowlin letter stickers, Autumn Leaves Stamp Set, Recollections Cardstock, Ribbon Unknown, Tombow and FabriTac Adhesives

My other layout was a fun one to come up with. It's a picture of my best friend and her just being silly!! We had taken a road trip to the outlet malls in Branson and these rocks were a perfect photo op I thought. So, I made her climb up so I could take pictures. She kept telling me to hurry up that there were people watching! At least we provided some entertainment for the shoppers that were bored. There are several pictures, because I wanted to show some of the details. I love this layout!!!

Supplies: Cosmo Cricket Boyfriend line papers and rubons, Sassafras Brad,
Cat's Eye Inks, Ribbon Unknown, Tombow and FabriTac Adhesives

Well, that's it for now!! I will be on later this week. Hopefully I will have some more done and maybe some news!!!!!

Monday Reveal Time using Nikki Sivils Papers!

So, Monday is reveal day for us DT members of Scrapbook Challenges. Sometimes it is hard for me to wait, if I have the layout already done! I was so excited to use this sketch. This layout has to be one of the quicker ones I have done.

The papers are from Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker Halloween line Boo-tiful. Wait..the matting on the two photos is from the Henry's Brilliance line..oppsie! And see, you don't have to use Halloween paper just for Halloween! I actually could have used color photos for this, because I had on an orange shirt, but I just love the look of black and white pics right now. And, BONUS~~You can use ANY color of papers with them! If you haven't tried to scrap some black and white pics, do it. It's quite fun and you might just get addicted!!!

I know I have skipped a sketch in here and I am hoping to get it up sometime this week. Thanks for all the recovery wishes on the migraine. I basically ate Excedrin Migraine all week after I got over the worst part of fun, but I am on the mend and ready to get some scrappy goodness done!

On to the pics! And hey, do the sketch and link me up! I would love to see what YOU do with it! I just might get some ideas!

Sketch 162 AND MY NEWS!!!!

Ok, first of all....I made another design team!!!! It is for a new kit club/online store that is opening called Denim and Daisies. The website if you would rather see it is

AND it's both traditional scrappy goodies and DIGITAL...that's right...both!!! How fun is that!? So be sure to check us out soon!!!!

Ok, now for Scrapbook Challenges Sketch Reveal. This is Sketch 162. And let me just say first of all, I played with the sunflower picture color in PSE. I used cyantype which gives it the blue/green hue that you see. So, my pic of my layout isn't THAT bad...I "added" effects to the picture that I scrapped! And if you do the sketch, PLEASE let us know!! Pamela Young, the group owner, is talking of going thru her stash and possibly offering a goodie to someone who does the sketch and lets us know!!!! You can find her blog HERE

Layout for a Cause, Halloween Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker style and some news....

Supplies: Bo Bunny Tis the Sesaon Line Patterened papers, Jenny Bowlin Bingo Card, Bazzill Cardstock, Cat's Eye Inks, Maya Road Ribbon, Core'dinations Cardstock, and Twine

Well, first the news....I can't say yet! Let's just say I am super excited and as soon as I get the ok, I will shout it out here!!!!

I was asked to teach a class for a charity crop that is coming up on Oct. 24, 2009. It is for Polk County (Missouri) Habitat for Humanity. I was flattered that they asked and wondered what I could come up with. Sheri from The ScrapNook suggested a Christmas themed layout. So, I looked at paper and loved the Bo Bunny Tis the Season Christmas line and snagged it up. And I have told you before...I don't do two page layouts! This came together fairly quickly and I had fun doing it. If you are in the area, I hope you decide to attend the crop. For more information visit the Facebook page
HERE or you can contact The ScrapNook's Bolivar location for more info or to sign up. The cost of the crop is 45.00 until Oct. 10th after that it's 50.00. Classes are an additional fee. It will be fun and for a good cause!!!!!

And if you haven't seen Nikki Sivils blog, she has some ROCKING layouts from her Design Team. They are rocking the Boo-tiful line among others!

Deana Boston....Wow....what a use of Halloween papers for a non Halloween layout...I think the girl likes fashion!!!!

And Emeline Seet did a wonderful job on this Halloween layout....Love the Blue Moon

So, if you are looking for some FUN halloween papers to work with for those great costume pics, or other pics that you just want to do something different with, check these out!

Well, I am off here, I need to get some scrapping done for Scrapbook Challenges! I have a challenge coming up. You should join us, we are a fun bunch. And this coming weekend, we are having a Blog Hop, so be sure to check it out...there are going to be some Prizes along the way!!!!!!!
