Folded Ribbon for The Paper Bakery

I had this tutorial up over on The Paper Bakery blog yesterday.  I love the look of folded ribbon and  the ribbon that comes in the Bayside High kit is the perfect size to do this with.

Supplies you will need are ribbon (haha!) and some sort of adhesive that will hold well.  I used some Glue Dots I had around, but you can also use liquid adhesive.  If you choose to do liquid, it will take a longer, because of the drying time.

Step One:
Figure out how much of a tail you want to leave on the end and then fold your ribbon on top of it's self.  Press really hard to make a good crease and then on the right side of the crease, closest to the tail you left, add your adhesive.
Step Two:
Fold your ribbon over on to your adhesive.  It should look like the picture above.  And you may want to put adhesive in the fold on the backside of your ribbon, depending on the weight of your ribbon.
Step Three:
Continue until you have done the length of ribbon that you need.  You can keep the sizes of your folds uniform, or you can make some bigger, some smaller.  It's your choice!
Step Four:
What your ribbon should look like when you look at the edge of it.  Mine looks fairly neat and tidy because I kept the folds about the same size.
Step Five (not shown)
You can do this on a sewing machine by simply folding and sewing down the middle of the strip of ribbon.  I choose to show this, since not everyone has a sewing machine.

Now, let's see how I used that fun strip of ribbon on my page as an embellishment.
Supplies in the kits: Pattern Paper-Pretty Little Studio (Wild Berries *green & white text polka dot), Fancy Pants (Coral Corrugated/Trendsetter *black/white chevron), Echo Park (Here & Now *chalkboard quote and blue strip); Heidi Swapp (Serendipity-Singing Stripe *multi stripe/New Day *yellow background); Wooden Triangles-Studio Calico (Darling Dear); Chipboard Camera-Maya Road; Pink Banner Tag-Heidi Swapp (Color Pop Tags); Letters-American Crafts (chipboard), Basic Grey (green stickers); Tags-Elle's Studio (Beautiful Day/Date)

Supplies not in kit: Flair-The Paper Bakery (Elle's Studio Mash-up); Adhesive-Scotch, Fabri Tac, Scrapbook Adhesives; Letters-October Afternoon (orange a)

How cute is that ribbon strip?  I accented it with one of the Maya Road chipboard cameras that come in "The MAX-Friends" album project kit.  I also added a flair button from the Elle's Studio Mash Up flair set.

I love those chalkboard speech bubbles on the sheet of paper in the scrapbook kit.  Great for accents to your page!

I went a little triangle crazy, but I love they way they look going down the page.  I started with three, but then I just kept adding them!  They are by Studio Calico and in the project kit this month.

July is just around the corner and new kits will be debuting soon.  Make sure you don't miss out on getting one by signing up for a subscription.  There are many options available.

And don't forget about the free cut files that are available right now!  They were made by our very own Juliana Michaels!

Gossamer Blue Sketch-You Are Amazing

Ugh, Monday was just icky!  I was going to come on here and write a big 'ole post about it, but just decided to skip it and post this layout!

This is one I got done this weekend at the crop I went to and it's for the Gossamer Blue sketch that is up right now.  Honestly all I did was flip the sketch upside down!  I just wanted to not think so that was the easiest thing to do. I always love Valerie's sketches and this one is no exception.

I took this pic of Carleen when we were eating pizza out one night.  I love that hat and the look on her face is just priceless.

And what??  I used sequins?  I actually kind of like them and I used ALL that came in the Crate Paper pack on this one page!  HA!  I have decided not to hoard embellishments, but to use them and I love the way they look on here.

June Gossamer Blue Main, Main Add-On, Add-on Paper, and Exclusive Paper

Supplies in Kits:  Pattern Paper-Gossamer Blue Exclusive-Aqua Chevron (*blue background), Lily Bee Design (Sweet Shoppe-Marshmellow *yellow with hearts and pink, white, red chevron & Starburst Exclusive for GB *blue-teal flowers & Journaling Cards Exclusive for GB *orange-purple-green burst), Crate Paper (The Pier-Sunshine *kraft/white chevron /Summertime *red/white chevron & green stripe), Basic Grey (Mint Julep-Naomi *yellow flowered/Elaine *green flowered; Button-Basic Grey (Mint Julep); Chipboard-Basic Grey (Mint Julep-flower/scallop/deer/ticket), Crate Paper (The Pier-photo frame);  Emphermea-Crate Paper (The Pier-blue doily cluster/175 tag/you are tag/pink tag/sequins); Letters-Lily Bee (Sweet Shoppe);

Supplies not in kit:  Tag-Chic Tags (journaling tag); Doily-Maya Road (white doily); Twine-May Arts; Flair-The Paper Bakery; Adhesive-Scotch, FabriTac, Glue Arts, Therm O Web

Close up of the title.  I added a flair button from The Paper Bakery.  That area was "missing" something and then I tucked the tag in underneath and it all just fell in place.

I just loved this little cluster, but it did take some time to get it exactly the way I wanted.  I added the little dear at the last minute and it was just what it needed.

And yes, I am showing the back side of the cluster.  I have been known to stack a couple of layers of foam adhesive, but I think this is the most I have ever done.  Will I do it again?  Probably!  I love dimension and this is one way to get it.  I know some people do not like bulky pages, but I kind of do!

And I am up over on The Paper Bakery blog today, so head over and say hi!  Here is hoping for a better Tuesday.

Therm-O-Web Design Team Announcement!

This is just a very quick post, but I am so excited to announce that I was asked to be on the Therm-O-Web Adhesives Team!  There is not an "official" announcement yet, but I was given the go ahead to share my excitement!!

I am so honored to have been asked, because there are some amazing designers on the team that I have admired their work for a long time.  I cannot wait to get started, which will be at the end of July.

Who knows, maybe that sewing machine will get to see some fabric time now? Therm-O-Web has some wonderful fabric adhesives also!

I will be back tomorrow with one of my layouts that I got done at the crop I went to this weekend!

Random Findings-Sketch Week Fun!

I am so excited that Allison asked me to participate in Sketch Week this week!  I truly have missed Sketch Support and it felt good to do something that felt a little like it again!

You can find the sketch and download instructions HERE on the Scrapbook Generation blog.  It's a free download and they happen once a month!

I pulled out my June Gossamer Blue kit and got to work on the sketch.  When I saw the red paper by Lily Bee Design, I knew exactly what pictures I wanted to scrap!

June Gossamer Blue Main, Main Add-On, Add-on Paper, and Exclusive Paper

Supplies in Kits:  Pattern Paper-Lily Bee Design (Sweet Shoppe-Pink Mint *background/Marshmellow *yellow with hearts and pink, white, red chevron & Starburst Exclusive for GB *blue-teal flowers), Crate Paper (The Pier-Sunshine *kraft/white chevron), Button-Basic Grey (Mint Julep); Chipboard-Basic Grey (Mint Julep-hey/floral scallop), Emphermea-Crate Paper (The Pier-top border cluster/blue doily cluster/music note tag/the sweetest tag/15 cent tag); Tag-Chic Tags (around here); Letters-Lily Bee (Sweet Shoppe); Chipboard Frames-Crate Paper (The Pier)

Supplies not in Kits:  Cardstock-American Crafts; Twine-May Arts; Pen-Sharpie; Flair-The Paper Bakery (I Woof You); Adhesives-Scotch ATG, Fabri Tac, Scrapbook Adhesives; Acrylic Packaging; Tag-Chic Tags (around here)

Silhouette Cameo with the following cut files:

Chic Tags Freebie File (WHEE, FREE!!)
Fun Words

6 Banner Set
Design ID# 20957

I used some acrylic packaging to place in my frames over my pictures.  I liked the softer look it gave.  I also stacked my frames with dimensional adhesive to give them more depth.

That little cluster was pre-made and I just added some Paper Bakery flair to it.  The "love this" is a free file from Chic Tags.

Just some journaling.  I finally clued in that you could cut journaling strips on the Cameo and they would turn out perfect every time!

So, be sure and grab the free sketch download over at Scrapbook Generation.  And you never know, I might get to do this a bit more (hint hint)!  Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Are you ready for a bright page, as if the one yesterday was NOT enough?!  This is another layout for The Paper Bakery, but this one is based on Sketch #6.  I definitely changed it up.  I added the green glitter cardstock at the last minute, but I think it makes the page definitely pop!

Changed up the frame, because this was definitely not taken in summer!  LOL

Fun 90's themed flair that you can purchase in the shop to go along with your kit!  And hey, I love the "eyes", reminds me of Duran Duran!

And this is a new trick I learned!  You can use your Silhouette to JOURNAL!  You need to have a thin  lined font to do it with, but it totally works!  I haven't really used my pens, but they are going to get a workout now!

Have an awesomesauce Tuesday and I will catch up with you tomorrow!

Here is a sneak!

That was a lot in one post, so I am out of here!  Be sure to check back tomorrow to see what is up here on the blog.

Puppy Looks

I seem to be in a pattern of scrapping three pictures on a page.  I didn't realize it until after I finished a layout tonight and got ready to edit the pictures of my layout here today.  I am not sure why, I guess I am going thru a phase!

Sheldon has so many cute looks and it's hard to capture them all.  He was a little sleepy here and actually staying still for a few minutes!  I cannot believe he was this small when we brought him home.

Gossamer Blue May 2013 Main and Paper Add On Kit

Supplies from kit: Pattern Paper-Basic Grey (Knee Highs and Bow Ties-Green Light *background), Echo Park (All About a Boy-Chevron Stripe *flow chart), Simple Stories-Urban Traveler (Grey Concrete *grey background/ Pack Your Bags *stripes), Fancy Pants (Down By The Shore-Beachside *journaling strip/Anchors Away *number strip polka dot), Jillibean Soup (Chilled Cucumber Soup (Minced Fresh Dill *star paper); Die Cuts-Jillibean Soup (Irish Farmhouse-memories/polka dot star), Banners-Basic Grey (Knee Highs and Bow Ties);  Stickers-Simple Stories (Urban Traveler-* don't want to forget this); Letter stickers-Simple Stories (Urban Traveler)

I took apart the flag toothpicks and used them as banners.  I added the "everyday moments' tag from Chic Tags.  They have some REALLY cute stuff!

Just a close up of that die cut and Sheldon's cute little puppy face!

I hope to have an update on Monday, but I will just have to see.  Carleen's dad is coming down for the weekend, so it could be a little crazy around here!

All Crew Aboard...Or Dogs on the Couch!

Ok, where has the end of May/first of June went?  I am so far behind it's not funny at all.  It seems like when I think I am getting caught up...wham, there it goes again!

I finally got my other two layouts done out of my May Gossamer Blue kit.  I have had this one done for awhile, just didn't get the pics edited.  The pictures on this layout are left over from the Lounge Lizard layout back on THIS post.  I had originally planned on putting them all on one, but it just didn't work out.

Gossamer Blue May 2013 Main and Paper Add On Kit

Supplies from kit: Pattern Paper-Echo Park (Sweet Girl-Flower Garden *yellow, All About a Boy-Curious *brown chevron/blue-green circles), Fancy Pants (Down By The Shore-Beachside *background/Colorful Days *multi color dots); Die Cuts-Jillibean Soup (Irish Farmhouse-photo op/airmail card); Basics Candy Buttons-Basic Grey; Stickers-Simple Stories (Urban Traveler-*are we there yet?/camera); Chipboard-Fancy Pants (Down By The Shore-Anchor); Flag-Basic Grey (Knee Highs and Bow Ties);

Supplies not in kit:  Flair-The Paper Bakery (ahoy); Letters-American Crafts Thickers; Twine-May Arts; Tickets-Maya Road; Journaling Tag-Elle's Studio

I cut the toothpick flag down, since it was a little too large for my area I wanted to put it in.

I have had those tickets in my tool bag for awhile now.  I thought they would go perfect!

I will have my other layout from my Gossamer Blue kit up tomorrow, so stop back by.  Have a wonderful Thursday.  And remember, it's only ONE more sleep till Friday!

Can you get 10 pictures on a one page layout?!

I had a layout up over on the GCD Studios blog yesterday using the Special Delivery collection. I managed to get 10 pictures on a ONE page layout.  WITHOUT using a collage!  Yep, can you tell I am excited that I did this?!

I don't scrap lists and actually, this is my first time!  BUT, I have to say, that I liked the process a lot and will probably do it again.  I couldn't decided what my favorites of all time are, but these are my current ones!

Supplies:  Pattern Paper-GCD Studios (Special Delivery); Cardstock-WorldWin Papers (Black/White); Brad-GCD Studios (Special Delivery); Doily-Wilton; Twine-May Arts; Font-Honey Script (; Adhesive-Scotch ATG and Scrapbook Adhesives

Silhouette Cameo with the following cut files:

Amy Tan Mini Envelope
Design ID #39472
Sentiments Stack-the good stuff
Design ID #16672

Top Ten list
Design ID #8687

Printed my list on some of the paper from the collection.  I will have a tutorial on how to do this later this month!

I used a cut file from the Silhouette store for a mini envelope to add my pictures to.  My pictures are sized around 2.25 inches square.  And I cut those numbers from the paper to number my pictures.

I love this little flower brad.  I tucked some twine underneath just for fun.

So, I am planning on looking back at these in about 6 months and see if they have changed.  I have a feeling they will!

Also the newest issue of the GCD Studios magazine, The PaperCut, is out.  I have a layout in it!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

A Banner Celebration!

The Paper Bakery is celebrating it's second anniversary and I was the lucky one that got to kick off the celebration!  There is a giveaway going on for comments all week long, so make sure to comment everyday over on the blog.

Since it's a party all week long, I made a banner to celebrate the dogs.  I love the retro 80's feel of the kits this month and you will see more of THAT later!  I worked with the project kit "The MAX-Friend's Album" and the scrapbook kit "Bayside High".

Supplies:  Not revealing those just yet, since the kits haven't been fully revealed!  That happens on the 15th!

Yes, I dug out some glitter and used it on those stars!

I used the sewing machine to stitch over the letters and around the banner pieces.

One of the printables that come with the kits this month and some fun flair on all the banner pieces!K_HuntBannerSide2PB

Just a close up of those cute Maya Road polaroids.  Well, Sheldon too!

So hop on over to The Paper Bakery blog to see all the fun stuff going on during the week.  Also, get in on the sketch challenge and link up.  You have plenty of time, it's not due until June 15th, 2013!

Lounge Lizards and Figuring Out a Headache

Sad story for you.  I had found my new favorite drink, blackberry sweet tea, from Sonic a couple of weekends ago.  Well, I felt horrible for much of last week and when I did feel better it felt like I was coming out of a migraine fog.  (if you have migraines, you will know what I am talking about).  Well, then this weekend we made a quick trip to Carleen's dad's and I had a tea on the way up.  About halfway there, headache.  So I took some meds and got to feeling better.  As we left town to come back, happy hour was going on.  So, I got a regular sweet tea and a blackberry slush.  Yes, another headache and icky feeling on the way home.

After thinking about it, I remembered that I had seen on Sonic's sign that the blackberry was made with Splenda.  I did a little google search and sure enough, it can cause migraines and upset stomach.  So, no more blackberry sweet teas for me.  I used to drink Splenda all the time, BUT I think since I have quit drinking soda and watching what has high fructose corn syrup in it or artificial sweeteners, that it affected more than it used to.  So bummed, but at least I figured it out!

On to the layout.  This was just a quick page that I did with a sketch from the One on One sketchbook by Debbie Sanders/Scrapbook Generation.  I wanted to not "think" about a page and so a sketch is a good go to!  I did change it up, but I love the way it turned out.

Supplies: Pattern Paper-Studio Calico (Here & There); Flair-The Paper Bakery (Daily Grind, TGIF and I Woof You sets); Twine-May Arts; Tag-Elle's Studio; Ink-Prima Chalk Ink; Letters-American Crafts; Punch-EK Success; Adhesive-Scotch and Scrapbook Adhesives

The couch is the dogs favorite spot in the house and they camp out there all week.  So I thought the two weekly flair sets mixed would be fun!

Top shot of all the banners!

And bottom shot of the banners with the hand cut heart, twine and flair.

And I still have a few Grab Boxes left and you can see that post HERE!  They are a great value for 40.00 and I will ship them out the next day!

Thanks for stopping by and have a GREAT Tuesday!
