Wonder Woman-Maybe? A Flair for Buttons and Simple Stories

It's been awhile since I shared a project for A Flair for Buttons, so it's time we change that!

I love when a flair set goes perfectly with a scrapbooking collection and the Sunburst Brights set went so well with Carpe Diem from Simple Stories.  This layout is a little different as I actually don't have a lot of "stuff" on it, mostly letter stickers!

Supplies: Pattern Paper, Die Cuts, Stickers, Wood Veneer-Simple Stories; Flair-A Flair for Buttons; Adhesive-ThermOWeb

I saw this quote on some home decor at the mall and knew I had to use it on a layout. Trust me, inspiration doesn't usually hit me like that at ALL!  It was a good way to use up some letter stickers also.  Don't worry, I still have lots!

I loved these little feathers. I wish there were more of them in the collection. I think it's probably the colors more than anything!  And the piece of flair just looks cute holding them in place.

The blue piece was perfect to use as the Earth on this wood veneer.  This veneer is actually from the I Am collection from Simple Stories, but hey I need to use it right?!

Wednesday Musings aka Blog Ideas

So a couple of things have happened over the last few weeks and they had me thinking about my blog and what I wanted to share or not share.  But since I am already here I might as well share and maybe it will inspire someone else to try something new!

This was the first big thing that happened.  This is a checkmark off the bucket list.  I don't have a big bucket list, but I have always wanted to learn how to sew.  This studio has been in town for just a little while and is not too far from me.  Every time I drove by I would see a sign about classes. I finally got brave and just signed up!

I figure if they can teach kids, surely they could teach me something.  It starts in April and is for the entire month.  So, I thought I might share a post each week on my "learning to sew" adventures. I need a catchy title for those posts, so if anyone has any ideas pass them my way!

The other thing I have already announced that I am working with a digital designer "Scrapping with Liz" on using her templates with paper.  I am pretty stoked about that, let me tell you!  So stoked, that this happened.....

I have honestly wanted a wide format printer for awhile, and then being on Liz's team pushed me over the edge!  I love my Epson printers and I am pretty sure this one will be no different.  I am hoping to do hybrid projects using my Silhouette and this printer to give you guys some great ideas.  I already have a wish list a mile long over at The Lilypad store, I just need to figure out where to start on it!

And I will include 8.5 x 11 examples for those of you that don't want or need a wide format printer.  Since I scrap that size occasionally there is no reason not to do it hybrid!

Don't worry, I am NOT giving up paper scrapping at all, I am just adding to my collection even more! I crave the feel of paper and playing with it. I am on a computer all day at work, so digital scrapping is not the way I want to exclusively create.  Just branching out a little!

So I am thinking a day a week for sewing and a day for hybrid scrapping.  Not sure that will be every week, I haven't played around with it enough yet to know how long it will take.  Does this sound like fun?  Let me know in the comments!

Happy Wednesday!

Boys Will Be Boys-Cocoa Vanilla and The Cut Shoppe

If you have been a reader here you know I love some Cocoa Vanilla Studio!  And pair it with some cut files from The Cut Shoppe and so much fun happens!  Cocoa Vanilla can be a little hard to find here in the states, but Paper Issues has started carrying it, so I am a happy little camper.

Supplies: All Pattern Paper, Embellishments, Stickers-Cocoa Vanilla Studio; Cardstock-WorldWin Papers, American Crafts; Adhesive-Therm O Web

I decided NOT to back the openings of the cut file, and fill them with little bits and pieces of embellishments instead.  I love how it turned out.  This is about as clean and simple as I get.  I still think I need more layers on here, but I do love how it turned out.

The collection is named "Totally Rad" so this cut file went with the overall theme!  I added some enamel dots just to spruce it up a bit.

Here are the two cut files I used and I have linked them to the shop if you are interested in them!

If you do not have a die cutting machine, The Cut Shoppe also has this one for purchase pre-cut in white cardstock.  You can find that HERE

Woot, Tuesday is here, which means Wednesday is right around the corner.  I am a girl that has been CRAVING her weekends and time away from work.  I love my job, so I am thinking it's Spring Fever Time!

Mixed Media Canvas with Maya Road

Ok, so I am NOT a mixed media guru, nor will I ever be!  But I thought I would try my hand at a canvas for a Maya Road project.  Small canvas, note the word small!

This started with some Dina Wakely paints that were on clearance at Hobby Lobby.  I had been wanting to try them out, because I loved the bright colors.  Clearance was a perfect excuse.  Then spring was coming, so I decided to give it a springy type theme.  I am NOT into dark colors, which has evidence here on my blog!  LOL

Supplies: Paints-Dina Wakely (Ranger); Doily-Doodlebug Designs; Stencil-Studio Calico; Tag, Envelope, Sequin Bow, Resin Bird, Felt Flower, Leaves, Die Cut-Maya Road; Modeling Paste; Adhesive-ThermOWeb

The steel dies from Maya Road cut beautifully. There is such a range of dies to choose from, especially considering they are a fairly new release.  This die also comes with hearts, but I opted not to use them on this project. If you want to check out all the Maya dies, you can find them on their website HERE.

And then clustering!  Maya is so, so prefect for clustering embellishments.  It's a struggle to NOT keep adding when I am doing it!  And those pink paper flowers are quickly becoming a favorite of mine.  I cannot wait till my order gets here!  I will have them in white and pink and a couple of sizes!

And I thought I would show these!  Carleen made the bunny that is my photo prop and she has been busy making others!  If you are interested in one, these are the ones she has left.  They are around 6-7 inches tall and shipping would be around 8.00.  US only please!  These are hand built and so fun to have sitting around your house! Let me know if you have any questions!

And I am thinking of some fun things for the blog...certain days for certain things.  Still mulling it around, but I am hoping that a schedule will keep me on track and will also help with the decisions of what to create and blog about!

Happy Monday!  I will be back tomorrow with a fun layout I did for The Cut Shoppe!

This Day & Us-Scrapping With Liz Announcement

FIRST I owe you all a winner form the Scrapping Our Stash hop!  I came down with the "crud" and was out of commission, even missed a day of work.  Which I never do!  So the winner of the flair set is:

I will hoard my stash, then use it ....lol love the animal/pet pages!

Lisa, check your email on how to claim your prize!!

Now, another fun thing that has happened in the meantime, is that I have joined a digital team!  WHAT??  Yes, Scrapping with Liz is located at The Lilypad  and I will be working with her templates from a paper scrapper's perspective!  Now, there are a lot of things you could do with them, including just using them as a sketch, or importing them into your Silhouette software and using them that way!

Here is the first page I have done and I kind of love it!  I used an old Gossamer Blue kit that I had and just started creating.

Supplies from Kit: Pattern Paper-Gossamer Blue, Basic Grey, Teresa Collins, Webster's Pages, Echo Park; Chipboard-Teresa Collins; Enamel Flowers-Basic Grey; Buttons-Teresa Collins, Heidi Swapp; Metal Flourish-Basic Grey; Sticker-Webster's Pages; Cardstock-American Crafts

Supplies not in kit: Doilies-American Crafts; Chipboard &-American Crafts; Adhesive-Therm O Web

Here is the template package I worked with.  You can obviously tell which one I did!
Swirl Templates from Scrapping With Liz

You can use these just as a sketch or you can take the elements and trace them in your Silhouette software to create elements to use on your pages.  OR, you could always do some hybrid scrapping which I am thinking about trying!

And you just have to think a little differently.  The circle cut outs on my background page, were sequins in the kit.  I just cut them and left the holes.  I could have easily cut them and used them as sequins on my page.  I also manipulated the sequin file.  I used it twice, at the top and bottom of my page and flipped it at the bottom so that it flowed across my page.  So fun and a new way to create!

Let me know if you have questions on how I did the layout using the template above.  If you want to email me, you can reach me at cardipaws13 @ gmail . com  (remove the spaces of course!)

I have a few more things to share this week from Maya Road and a layout for The Cut Shoppe.  I am out of here for tonight though!!!  See you on Thursday!

I cut the doily die that I had multiple times out of felt and then just created a base for my flower to sit on.  Add a couple of those cute tassels and called it done!
