Life Is Short & So Are Our Legs-Echo Park and Paper Issues

Be prepared, fair warning, I will be sharing a few more layouts that I did for Paper Issues online crop.  Hey, at least I have new projects to share!  And I feel like they brought me out of the "rut" I was in.  Which is definitely a good thing.

This was for the Alphabet Challenge, so I went with a quote and made it BIG.  I scoured Pinterest for some ideas of word art and dogs.  Ok, corgis!  And this quote jumped out at me.  The picture was taken by April from UTurn Studios and was one of our outtakes.  But Ella with her tongue sticking out is priceless!

And a close up of the money shot...Ella sticking her tongue out.  Seriously the cutest ever.  And Sheldon just looking innocent!

I attached my doilies and then trimmed them off.  It was easier that way.  I tend to try things the hard way and then find out, hey there is a better way!

And that's a wrap for this Wednesday posting.  Try a big title, you will love it!  And seriously, I am beginning to think I have to use the "entire" space on my layout.  I guess it's just my style, but it makes me happy!  Have a great one.

Formerly Bender-Gossamer Blue and Paper Issues

There once was a puppy named Bender, who was so cute and sweet.  I was pretty sure he was going to be a fluffy and well, you know, how I feel about fluffy Cardigans!  He was from a litter bred by Sherilyn and Rus, who at the time lived in Iowa.  I loved his little face from the first time I saw him, but we are full up here!  Why do Corgi (either breed) puppies have to be so darn cute?!

BUT, Sherilyn and Rus came to the dog show in November and I got to play with him!  I just plopped right down on the floor and in my lap he went.  Super cute, super sweet and such a good boy.  At the time, they still weren't sure if he was going to be a show dog or not.  Turns out, he was a "wee bit" too fluffy and went to a new home in Denver (yes, I friended the new owners!).  He is now named Dexter.  But I had to do a page about him!

I have quite a few projects I will be sharing from the Paper Issues online crop.  This layout was for Sherri's challenge, "Make it Sparkle".  And I used some of my Gossamer Blue kits that have been laying around, even better!
Formerly_Bender_Scrapbook_Page_Layout_Katrina_Hunt_Gossamer_Blue_Crate_Paper_Amercian_Crafts_My_Minds_Eye_1000Signed-2

I am IN LOVE with these Thickers (Ivy).  I love the swirls, lower case, upper case AND they are fun to boot!  My white pen just kind of stinks at times.  I wish there was a great, consistent one out there. And before you say "Uniball Signo" that is what this one is!

And this fun flair from {a flair for buttons} went so well with the papers and layout, I decided to include it!  The set it is in is called "Capture The Moments" and you can find it right HERE.

I am excited, because the mojo is flowing!  I feel like I actually accomplished a few things this past week.  I am usually not much of a challenge girl, but this crop was pretty darn fun!  Have a fun and wonderful Monday.  Well, if Monday can be?!

Scrapping Our Stash March Blog Hop-17turtles and American Crafts

Welcome to the monthly "Scrapping Our Stash" blog hop!  When I found out about this group, I was super excited.  Why, you may ask?  Well, it's a way to motivate me to dig out those older collections and use them.

It's a relaxed type of group and hop.  Participate if you can, if not no worries!  It happens on the last Friday of each month and enjoy all that stash that you are hoarding and not using!

You should have come here from Wendy's blog.  I cannot wait to hop to see all the fun projects that everyone has created!

Here's my project and I am teaming the American Crafts Shimelle "Pretty Paper" collection along with a 17turtles cut file.  This layout honestly was not planned and I spent way too much time getting things the way I wanted on it!  But I had a ton of the collection and figured I need to at least use some of it!

And this "Shine Bright" cut file was perfect to use 6x6 papers from the collection to back the die cut with!  Double bonus!

Shine Bright

I love that the cut file comes with that circle (the polka dot paper cut) behind it already made!  No need to do an offset, just size the circle with the size of your die cut!  Just a little added touch to the wood veneer.  The papers are so muted and I love bright color, so I just gave it a little pop of color there.

Foam adhesive ROCKS in my book!  I don't ever make a layout without it, seriously not kidding!  I love that ThermOWeb has strips and squares in different sizes.  And adding pattern papers to your die cuts hides that foam adhesive, giving your die cut more dimension and "focus" in your project.
Pretty_Paper_Scrapbook_Page_Backing_Die_Cuts_Katrina_Hunt_17turtles_Digital_Cut_Files_04

I laid out all my banners and figured out color/placement/length before I started gluing things down.  I usually don't glue until the very very end.  I have been known to take a picture, so that I know where to put things back to!

So that's all from me for the hop!  Next stop is Suzanna.  Hope you enjoyed this fun 17turtles die cut combined with something "from my stash!"  Happy Friday.

I Am A Therapy Dog-Simple Stories

Ok, I cannot sit on this layout any longer!  I was going to hold it until next month, but I am in love with it and couldn't wait to share it.

We have two pet therapy dogs thru a local organization here.  Ella goes to the hospital to visit the pediatric floor once a month.  Last month happened to be a very special visit, because the daughter of one of my good friends from high school was my last visit of the night.  I had NO idea they were in there, but I hear Julie say "corgi" and I said "Julie?" and then it was mass chaos!

They graciously let Ella sit on the bed, and she was happy for the rest stop.  She had a busy night on the floor and was ready to take a break.  I also got permission to grab a photo of them!  So happy, as I am very careful about patient privacy etc.

Supplies: Pattern Paper, Chipboard Elements, Die Cuts, Tags, Enamel Dots-Simple Stories; Wood Veneer-American Crafts, Simple Stories; Letters-American Crafts; Doilies-Doodlebug Design; Adhesives-ThermOWeb

I thought it would be fun to frame the word "dog" in a smaller chipboard frame.  I bought all the embellishments that come with this collection, so I have a lot to use!

Just a shot of the journaling tag!  And Ella looking at the camera saying "take the stinking picture, mom!"

And that fun chipboard banner.  I added the butterfly just for fun.  It looked a little plain without it.

I know I blogged TWO days in a row?  What is up with that!!  I am hoping to get back to blogging at least three times a week.  Since I have my mojo back it seems and I am cranking out some projects, I might as well post them right?!

Have a great and wonderful Tuesday.  They are talking storms Tuesday night here and I am actually looking kind of forward to it.  As long as there are no tornados, I love a good storm!

Sheldon's Gotcha Day-Fancy Pants Design and Paper Issues

Apparently, all it takes is a good couple of cropping sessions and me getting out of a bad mood to get my scrappy mojo going!  I did a lot at the crop last weekend and then Paper Issues hosted an online crop over the weekend thru Facebook.  I am usually not a challenge person, but I am participating in a few of them for fun and to get some stuff scrapped!

This was a "No Cardstock Challenge" which, we all know, was super easy for me!  Since I rarely use cardstock on a regular basis!

Dug out my Fancy Pants Designs "True Friend" collection for this one.  Mostly because I love it (and I will be sad when it's gone) but also because it went well with my photos.  NOTE:  Look at Higgin's face in the top photo...He is like WHAT??  Another one?!!!

Hedgehog love!!!  I have been saving that little guy.  I gave in and used him on this!

I had to layer the letters to get them to fit, but I like the look of it.

I will have a few more layouts to share from the online crop.  Challenges run until Monday the 29th, so I have lots of scrappy time to get more done!  I have three already, going for a fourth!

Happy Monday, or at least as happy as a Monday can be!

Best Day-My Mind's Eye

I went to a crop this weekend and since there aren't a lot of new goodies out just yet, because of the dock issues in California, I played with some older collections that I had for a couple of layouts. This is one of them.

These pictures of Ella were laying among the other pictures I had printed out and happened to fall on these papers from My Mind's Eye while I was shuffling thru things!  I said "why not"?!

Supplies:  Pattern Papers, Die Cuts, Stickers, Chipboard-My Mind's Eye; Corrugated White-Fancy Pants, Adhesive-ThermOWeb

Just stacked a few clusters here and there of embellishments.  Always the part that takes me the longest!

Ella Boo is so sweet, the tag was perfect for the layout!
Best_Day_Scrapbook_Page_My_Mind's_Eye_Katrina_Hunt_1000Signed-3

Best part, this collection is basically used up, well the papers are!  I still have embellishments, but I can probably work those into other layouts.  Have a fun Wednesday!

Hey There Beautiful-ThermOWeb & Simple Stories

Back on this St. Patty's Day with a card I did for ThermOWeb using the new Simple Stories "I Am" collection and some DecoFoil. PLUS, I have a tutorial over on the ThermOWeb blog on how to make toner sheets AT HOME for your foiling needs, without buying a laser printer!

You can find that tutorial over on the ThermOWeb blog HERE.

Therm O Web Sticky Dot Adhesive-Small Sheets
Therm O Web Sticky Dot Mini Runner
Therm O Web iCraft® DecoFoil™ – Turquoise

I cut three of the polaroid heart frames, one from the toner sheet and then two from cardstock.  Then I stacked them to give the frame a thicker look and feel.

With all the fun embellishments, I had to tell myself to "stop adding" at some point!  The "beautiful" sticker actually said "I am" but I covered that part up with those enamel dots!

Well, that's it from me today!  Warning, I am loving the I Am collection and have made quite a few projects with it.  So you will be seeing a few of those in the next week or so.  Have a great Tuesday!

Wanderlust with ThermOWeb and Fancy Pants

Quick layout share for today.  This was one of my CHA projects that was in the ThermOWeb booth.  The booth was all about the DecoFoil this time around and this layout has the DecoFoil with the adhesive foam on it, under the picture.

Carleen and I always seem to take selfies in the car, so the As You Wish collection from Fancy Pants, not only had some travel themed goodies, but the colors were a good match for the DecoFoil.

KatrinaHunt-ThermOWeb-WanderlustlayoutFoil-1000-1

Here's a close up of the foam.  I just ran it thru my Silhouette Cameo, then applied the foil after.  I also backed the die cut with some woodgrain paper that was in the collection also.
KatrinaHunt-ThermOWeb-WanderlustlayoutFoil-1000-2

I wish I had a couple more detail pictures to show you, but I seem to take minimal pictures of trade show projects, because I am in a hurry to get them done and sent to where they need to be!!

Check back late tonight or tomorrow.  The new CREATE issue will be out and I will have some sneaks of my projects, along with maybe some "celebration news" for Scrapbook Generation!!!  Have a great Monday.  PS, I hate the time change!

Ella & Sheldon-{a flair for buttons}

Sharing a layout I did for the {a flair for buttons} blog last week.  I still cannot get enough of September Skies from Heidi Swapp.  My supply is dwindling and it's making me sad!  I even bought a 6x6 mini pad just to extend my options to create with what I have left!

I combined a couple of different flair sets in this layout.  I also wanted to show how you can make a statement with a flair embellishment or just add a little "flair" (yes, pun TOTALLY intended!) that doesn't stand out as much, but is just a little something extra!

Katrina_Hunt_A_Flair_For_Buttons_Layout_Heidi_Swapp_September_Skies_Multiple_Photos_Remember_Everyday_1000Signed-1
Supplies: Pattern Paper, Die Cuts, Stickers, Wood Veneer-Heidi Swapp; Flair-{a flair for buttons}; Twine-May Arts; Adhesive-ThermOWeb, Zapp Glitter Glue; Letters-American Crafts, Heidi Swapp; Silhouette Cameo

Here I used the heart flair from the Just Hearts 2 set.  The green wasn't a perfect match, but I love how it pulled out some of the darker green tones in the die cuts.  And it's an example of a statement piece of flair, since it's part of some title work.

Katrina_Hunt_A_Flair_For_Buttons_Layout_Heidi_Swapp_September_Skies_Multiple_Photos_Remember_Everyday_1000Signed-2

Then I used a piece from the Linen Polka Dot set tucked and snuggled into some die cuts.  I love these polka dot pieces and I really just want to hoard and keep them!

Katrina_Hunt_A_Flair_For_Buttons_Layout_Heidi_Swapp_September_Skies_Multiple_Photos_Remember_Everyday_1000Signed-3

I hope I have made you want to go grab some flair and start playing!  Have a wonderful weekend.  Sadly, I remember that I will lose an hour of sleep this weekend with the time change.  I like my sleep!

Boys Will Be Boys-Jillibean Soup and CREATE Magazine

Before we get started, I have a fun little layout over on the 17turtles blog today!!  There is a tutorial on using your sketch pens.  Here is a sneak of it below.  You can find the posting HERE.

SOOO....this happened last Monday.  Paper trimmer, payroll and me were not a good combo late Monday afternoon at work.  At least I didn't cut my finger off!  Just thru the nail and it has been interesting trying to do any scrapbooking at all, let alone type.  Check up on it today, but I think it's doing pretty good.

10371607_10206258325681609_6946283645390543527_n

So, while I am here I thought I would share a layout that was in the January issue of the CREATE magazine.  Jillibean Soup was the featured manufacturer and they are one of my favorites.  Little secret about the pictures on this layout.  Notice they are slightly different in colors, not only the picture part.  When I printed them out, my printer was acting up!  BUT, instead of tossing them, I decided to go ahead and use them as is.

Katrina Hunt-Jillibean Soup-BoysWillBeBoys-1000Signed-1
Supplies:  All Jillibean Soup, except the doily which is Wilton.  Adhesive-ThermOWeb

And that definition card of boy is perfect for these three, especially Jetson.  We actually call him PigPen at times!

Katrina Hunt-Jillibean Soup-BoysWillBeBoys-1000Signed-2

Just a detail shot of the tags.  And Sheldon's extremely long tongue!  The only time I have a picture of him with it in his mouth is when he is sleeping.
Katrina Hunt-Jillibean Soup-BoysWillBeBoys-1000Signed-3

Well, this is all the typing my little nubbin can handle right now.  Back to babying it!  Hopefully I will be back on Wednesday with another post.  Have a great Monday!
