Halloween Blog Hop with The Cut Shoppe

The Cut Shoppe is having a Halloween blog hop today.  All treats, no tricks I promise! Be sure to visit all the blogs on the hop, because we are all giving away one of our favorite files and most of them are different!

I decided to make a pair of Halloween cards with Crate Paper's After Dark collection and a couple of the Halloween cut files from the shop.  I used the Goblins, Ghouls, Ghost file on one card and the Wacky Web on the other card.

Supplies: Pattern Paper, Chipboard, Tags-Crate Paper; Doily-Doodlebug Design; Sequins-We R Memory Keepers; Adhesive-ThermOWeb; Silhouette Cameo

And here are the files I used:

On the Goblins Ghouls and Ghosts file, I cut in two different papers and then just trimmed the "oh my" part off and layered it on top of the other cut.

For the Wacky Web, I sized the file almost the size of my card front.  (FYI, my square cards are usually 5x5 inches!) And then I cut it in half and attached to my card front.

So, these will go to some special little goblins this Halloween!  And I bet you are wondering about the giveaway!  I am giving away the Tall Types font, I thought it would be fun to give you something that you can use all year round!

Giveaway runs from October 29th thru Nov. 2.  The winners of all giveaways will be announced on The Cut Shoppe blog Nov. 6th.  Leave a comment on my blog for a chance to win this cut file below!

And here is the complete hop list, so you can get in on all the giveaways! Thanks for stopping by and hopping with us today.  Don't forget to comment!

Blue Happened-Scrap Our Stash and Fancy Pants Designs

When I was asked to guest for Scrap Our Stash earlier this month, they also asked if I wanted to play along with the other challenge for the month that combines four challenges.  I thought about and it and decided, why not!

So here is the list of the challenges for the ScraptoberFest Challenge and you can find the link HERE.
  • Scrap Our Stash Stash challenge  - Create a layout using at least 2 different types of Washi Tapes.
  • Challenge YOUrself - Create a layout that includes YOU in the photo.
  • My Scraps & More -  Color Challenge
  • The Memory Nest - Sketch Challenge
And here is my take on the four challenges combined.  Frankly, I was a little hesitant at first to do it, but it's super easy!  So jump in, you could win some prizes!!!

Supplies: Pattern Paper, Die Cuts, Flair-Fancy Pants Designs; Doily-Doodlebug Designs; Washi Tape-Target, My Mind's Eye, K&Company; Stamp-October Afternoon; Foam Letters-American Crafts; Ink-Heidi Swapp; Adhesive-ThermOWeb

Yep, that is blue in my hair!  Actually I have more now than when I took this picture!  It's fun, it doesn't fade out to a weird color like teal or green. And best part is that it is subtle enough that I can get by with it and not look too crazy like a rainbow or anything!

Just some fun with the journaling tag.  Its fun to use them as embellishments and layer things on them!

So, be sure to head over and check out all the fun at the Scrap Our Stash blog HERE. Lots of good challenges to play along with!  Happy Friday!

Happy And Brave-The Cut Shoppe

Thought I would share my layout that was up on The Cut Shoppe blog Friday.  I love how this layout turned out.  In my head it was nothing like what it looks like here, but I am glad!

AND I actually mixed some Carta Bella and Crate Paper collections together!  The color palettes were a perfect fit for each other!
Supplies: Pattern Paper, Sticker-Carta Bella; Chipboard; Die Cuts, Tags-Crate Paper; Enamel Dots-My Mind's Eye; Chevron Bag-Jillibean Soup; Twine-May Arts; Adhesive-ThermOWeb; Silhouette Cameo; Cut File-The Cut Shoppe

And here is the cut file that I used from The Cut Shoppe:
Fall In Love

I decided at the last minute I wanted to cut the file in half!  I love how it turned out and you can see here, I didn't back every leaf.  I wanted a lot of them open, because I liked the look with the brown paper.

And then in the center, I just got all kinds of crazy with embellishments around my pictures.  These pictures of Sheldon just melt my heart.  He was so tiny here, about 10 months old and not sure of anything, but wanted to be like the big dogs! And doesn't every deer head need a bow necklace?!  I think so!

Alright, that is all for this Monday!  Bring on the Tuesday and the rest of the week, I am ready!  Thanks for stopping by today.  I appreciate it and hope I inspire you to make something that YOU love!

DogFest 2015-a flair for buttons and Elle's Studio

Have I mentioned, I have new scrap goodies that I just haven't had time to play with?!  Well, I am starting to dig into them and having quite the good time!

This was up on the {a flair for buttons} blog yesterday, so I am sharing it today here.  When this layout started, I wasn't planning on it being a design team project. I was planning on just playing, having fun and getting another layout done. But as I was working on it, I noticed the balance was off and it "needed" something.  THAT's when it became a project for {a flair for buttons}!

Supplies-Pattern Paper, Tags, Stickers-Elle's Studio; Doilies-Doodlebug Design; Enamel Dots-Freckled Fawn; Crocheted Hearts-Bella Blvd; Adhesive-ThermOWeb; Letters-American Crafts; Pen-Sharpie

After I added the doilies and the hearts, the balance was just off on the page. It didn't sit right and didn't "feel" right. That is when I added a flair piece and then I had to add another one. The flair just kind of tied things together for the layout.

This picture of the dogs I LOVE!  Carleen snapped it with my phone when we were on our way to DogFest with the pups.  They were NOT this perky by the time we got home.  They were worn out! But we love it and they do too! Good for socializing and just getting them out and doing something.

And since I used a white piece of flair, I added those enamel dots to bring out the black and tie everything together in that corner.  The other corner I added some white ones the same way. The black wouldn't have looked right.

Here are the full sets and links to the flair pieces I used.  You could also use buttons, bows, brads, whatever you have on hand.  But chances are you have some flair!  Or, I have made you want some!  Happy Thursday!

BOO-Witch's Kettle-Maya Road and Crate Paper

This project I had so much fun making.  I swear, every time I use my Maya Road goodies, they make me think outside the box!  I had a post up on Monday over on their blog and you can find that posting HERE.   You want to check it out, because I basically talked thru the project step by step and there are links for all the Maya Road goodies that I used!

I was trying to figure out my next Maya Road project and decided it needed to be something Halloween! I found this cute little witch's black kettle at Michael's and knew it would be fun to alter! I didn't realize how fun though!

Supplies: Paper, Embellishments-Crate Paper; Embellishments, Trim-Maya Road; Sequins-We R Memory Keepers; Enamel Dots-Freckled Fawn; Glitter-Martha Stewart, Multi Medium Gel Gloss; Adhesive-ThermOWeb

How adorable is that spider?!  I know, Halloween spiders are usually black.  There was so much black going on already, that I thought gold was fun! I almost made him purple! There are details on how I made him over on the Maya blog!

Oh, and detail for the ghostie too!  I love how he is peeking out over the boiling potion!

And I had to do a fun cluster! I had trouble getting it the way I wanted, but I like how it turned out.

I have a love/hate relationship with pattern paper and chipboard!  I love the way it looks, but I have to be in the mood to cover it and sand it!  I actually sanded this way more and left the white of the paper showing.  I thought it looked neat and made the piece a little brighter!

How fun right?!  And easy.  If you follow some of the tips on the Maya Road blog HERE, it wouldn't take you long to recreate this at all!!  Happy Wednesday!

You Are Still-The Cut Shoppe and Basic Grey

A while back, I decided to cancel my Gossamer Blue sub.  I wasn't using my kits and I was kind of buying things that came in later kits.  I searched around and saw that Basic Grey was starting a kit club and decided to join it. Fast forward a couple of months after that and BG decided that they WEREN'T starting the club! I was so bummed, because I really liked the kit they showed sneaks of.

Well, they decided to release the collection!  It's called B-Side and the collection is so fun and colorful.  Mostly it's about the colors for me, you know me and color.  I jumped in and used it on my project for The Cut Shoppe that posted last week. Fun right?!

Supplies: Pattern Paper, Die Cuts-Basic Grey; Flair-{a flair for buttons}; Twine-May Arts; Adhesive-ThermOWeb; Gelatos; Pen-Sharpie

The Cut Shoppe Cut Files
A Walk In The Clouds
Child @ Heart

How fun are those clouds?! My first thought was to back all of them, but then I liked the way it looked when I was about half done, so I left it!

Oh, and this.  This was a work in progress the entire time! I cut the file and was happy with it. Added the paper behind and decided it needed color BEHIND it again, so added the black behind.  Had it attached to my page and decided I couldn't see the white.  Ekk!  So then I pulled it off and carefully applied gelatos in various colors until I liked the way it looked!

Then I just added a bunch of the embellishments and die cuts that are part of the collection.

And that's a wrap for today!  Fun collection huh?!  Happy Tuesday!!

Pumpkin Wood Pallet-CREATE Magazine

Happy Fall!!  That is what I was thinking when I made this project.  I had the altered tag/card challenge for CREATE magazine this month and the card sketch was perfect to change into a pumpkin.

I used some of the fun Simple Stories "Pumpkin Spice" collection, ThermOWeb adhesives and DecoFoil, Maya Road goodie and Mix The Media wood pallet from Jillibean Soup.  That combination right there ended up with this fun fall piece.

Supplies: Pattern Paper, Stickers, Tag-Simple Stories; Ribbon, Corrugated Tag, Button-Maya Road; Adhesive, DecoFoil-ThermOWeb; Twine-Maya Arts; Cut File-17 Turtles

Love these corrugated kraft tags from Maya Road.  They are great to just highlight and layer in an area!

The pumpkin cut file was layered, so it was easy to make different layers of pattern paper and DecoFoil.  I used Gold and Teal Decofoil, along with the Hot Melt Adhesive to create my foil layers. And let's not forget the foam adhesive to give it depth and dimension!

So if you haven't checked out the new issue of CREATE you need to!  Lots of fun inspiration, ideas and different takes on things! Find the issue HERE.

That's all from me today!  I will have some more posts coming up this week, so stay tuned! Happy Monday.

Capture The Moment-Cocoa Vanilla Studio

I was invited to an event that started on Facebook for snapping a picture and "capturing a moment" on 9/26/15 at 6 PM Central time and then you were to share it on Facebook/Instagram/etc.  So, I set an alarm and participated!  It was kind of fun just to grab a random picture and then scrap it. Over 4000 people all over the world participated and it was fun to see their pictures.  The next one is on Dec. 24, 2015. We decided it was so much fun, that it would be neat to make it a seasonal thing. If you are on Facebook and would like to join in, the event info is HERE.

I had gotten my little crafty hands on the new "Life is Beautiful" collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studios and it was calling my name to put it to use.  It just happened to fit this picture to scrap perfectly! This collection, ok, EVERY collection, from Cocoa Vanilla Studio calls my name every time there is a new one!

Supplies: Pattern Paper, Wood Veneer, Tags, Stickers, Flowers-Cocoa Vanilla Studio; Adhesive-ThermOWeb; Doily-Doodlebug Design; Stamp-October Afternoon; Silhouette Cameo

That "capture" is actually "captured" so I just stuck a butterfly on it!  Hey it works right?!

And I never seem to think ahead to size my photos the size of frames, but who needs to do that when you can see if they will fit at an angle!

Ok, it's Friday, the weekend is HERE! I have a hair appointment and no idea what I am doing, but I better figure it out quick!  Have a great weekend!

InstaDogs-A Maya Road Kit

9:00 PM people, 9:00 PM!  That is when I have been going to bed or just about to head that way.  I am usually not in bed before 10:30 or later.  I think it's hibernation mode, I am like a bear!  Ok, let's get to the crafty stuff now.

Remember when I said I was working on a big project? I am sharing it today here.  If you didn't know, Maya Road has a kit club that releases mini album kits and card kits thru out the year. No commitment, just purchase if you like them.  There is a Facebook group for the kit chatters and also you get sneaks of the kits before release, etc.  You can find the group HERE.   These peeps are a lot of fun when the sneaks start appearing.

So the latest release was a mini album kit and I was asked if I wanted to contribute a sample for the release.  Who says no to an offer like that?!  LOL  The kit is called Always Together and you can find the link to buy it HERE.  So, let's get to the pics!

All supplies are in the kit, except for your basic adhesives, inks, paints, etc.  And I have a ton left over from this kit also.  My full gallery of pictures, which include close ups of each page you can find HERE.   If you would like a printable PDF of instructions to complete the album you can find them on the post HERE.  They are after all the add-ons that you can purchase to go along with your kit.

You know it had to be chunky right?! Lots of ThermOWeb Foam adhesive action going on in this!

There are also free cut files to use along with the kit. The butterfly was calling to me to use it for sure!

Lots of fun trims also. I couldn't decide what to use first. And all those kraft envelopes are to die for!

So, between this, CSI at Scrapbook Generation and the auditors coming for their yearly audit at work, I have been a busy girl.

Plus, it's FALL!  That means cooler weather, pumpkin patch and going places with the dogs.  Oh, let's not forget taking pictures!   Ok, that's all for today, Happy Thursday!
