He's So Fluffy-Heidi Swapp Fun

There is a story behind this layout.  I have held on to this title for a page for MONTHS!  I happened to be watching Despicable Me one night while I was scrapping and when Agnes says "It's so fluffy, I'm gonna DIE!" I knew that I had to make a page about Jetson with that title!

And once I saw the greens and blues in the Heidi Swapp September Skies collection, I knew those were the papers that I wanted to use for the layout.

Those letters with the collection were perfect!  I was worried that I wouldn't have enough, but I have plenty left over to use on other layouts.  I love the contrast of the dark blue/teal/white together in the title.

I did the journaling on the Cameo.  I cannot remember which font this is, but I bet you money I will use it again.  I love the clean rounded lines. And I just used the black Silhouette pen, I tried a dark blue, but it was glitter and just didn't look right.  TIP:  I always practice a small part of the journaling before actually doing it on the paper I am going to use.

AND if you haven't heard, I am back for a second term on the CREATE magazine team.  This time the team is bigger and there are a few change ups, but I think the magazine is going to be even better!  And I think it is going to challenge me more, which I cannot wait for!

You can read the full announcement HERE and see all the team members that are joining me this year!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I won't be back until next week more than likely!  Have a safe Halloween and a great weekend!

You're A Big Deal-Fancy Pants Share

Where did the weekend go?  I really need at least one more day, two would be good! It was a busy one with a crop, a musical theater performance, and cleaning out some clothes. Some was planned, some was unplanned, but I did get a lot accomplished this weekend!

The crop was quite fun and I was quite productive!  Truth be told, I usually don't have a plan when I go to these things.  I just kind of wing it as far as what I am going to work on. I actually changed my mind and did one assignment for the next issue of the CREATE magazine that I wasn't planning on doing, but it just worked out.

I did do a couple of layouts for fun. Seems like it's been awhile since I have done that. And those favorite things I talked about in another post were some of the collections I used!  Fancy Pants and Heidi Swapp.  Today is the Fancy Pants layout!

And I have give a shout out to Nicole Nowosad! I used her FREE Quilting Cut File and I have to say, I cannot wait to use it again!

I loved this little basket/tag and it was perfect to put my journaling on.  I just added some twine and some fun embellishments.
Katrina Hunt-Fancy Pants-You're A Big Deal-1000Signed-2

And since Cardigan puppies always have big ears, I had to use this tag. The admission ticket was a given choice also! And I didn't want to put a bow on the tag, so I opted for a fun flair button from {a flair for buttons}.

And I love my layers! So there are two layers of foam squares from ThermOWeb on here. One for the "quilted" part and then another layer holding up the middle section. I love how this turned out.

3 Birds Design and 17Turtles Creative Team Up

A layout using one of my favorite files from 17Turtles is on on the 3 Birds Studio blog HERE.  And I have a different layout to share with you today on my blog.  And this one has NO pictures!  That's right, I did a non-picture layout.

When we took the dogs to DogFest, one of the booths was doing paw prints on cards.  So, of course, we had to do it.  We marked their names on the backs of the cards, so we would know which paw went to which dog.  I wanted to scrap the paw prints, but the cards were so big.  I decided to cut them down and put them all on one layout.

Supplies:  Pattern Paper-3 Birds (Graceful Season and Midday Medley); Sticker-3 Birds Midday Medley Sticker Nestable set; 3D Embellishments-3 Birds (Midday Medley); Journaling Strips-3 Birds (For All Seasons Cards); Adhesive-ThermOWeb; Silhouette Cameo with cutting file; Flair button-{a flair for buttons}

As soon as I figured out that was what I wanted to do, I knew I had to use the Paw Prints and Hearts background from the 17Turtles store.  It just fit!  And with this type of a background file, you don't have to do much embellishing if you don't want to.  I just added bits and pieces.

I also used a frame sticker from the Midday Medley Sticker Nestable set.  I actually put the sticker on a piece of very thin chipboard and then cut out around it.  I knew I wanted to pop it up and I wanted it to be a little more stable than just the sticker itself.

AND there is a coupon code below!!!  Read all the details and how you can play along with us and win prizes!

It's An Imaginisce Day-Card Share

Just sharing a card today for Imaginisce.  I also have a layout up over on the blog using some of the same techniques.  You can find the layout on the Imaginisce blog HERE.

This was a fun and quick card to make and I love how the "hello" turned out.  I did this with my Silhouette, but you could do it with a manual die cutting machine also.

Supplies:  Pattern Paper-Imaginisce (Little Princess); Cardstock-American Crafts; Punch-EK Success; Adhesive-ThermOWeb

I cut the "hello" out of my flower paper and used the negative part on my card.  Then I cut the purple letters out, sized just a bit smaller.  Using 3D Foam Squares from ThermOWeb, I popped the purple letters up and offset them from the negative hello cutout.

Not quite sure if I like the little hearts in the letters.  They were there already in the font I chose.  I could have taken them out, but I just left them.   And that punch I used is my favorite.  I don't know what I will do if this one breaks.  I have already replaced it once!

Have a great Wednesday.  It's audit time at work and I am just a little overwhelmed with the thought of it.  It's the first one I have been thru, so I am clueless in one aspect and then ACKKK in another!

OH, stop by tomorrow, because 3 Birds is teaming up with 17Turtles and it's my day to share.  There have already been lots of fun projects on the 3 Birds Studio Blog.  There is also a coupon code for the 17Turtles Cut File shop!!!  To make your 17turtles shopping experience more enjoyable, use coupon code 3BIRDS17 to save 25% off of any purchase. (Coupon Code valid October 20th - October 31st.)  And a fun contest for you also, which I will give you more details about tomorrow!

ThermoWeb and Simple Stories-The Spooky Crew

Couple more weeks and Halloween will be here before you know it!  I have a fun little card and step outs over on the ThermOWeb blog and you can check that out HERE.

And since I had some Halloween goodies out, I decided to scrap the dogs with the fun Frankie and Friends collection from Simple Stories.

Supplies:  Pattern Paper, Chipboard, Die Cuts, Stickers-Simple Stories; Flair-{a flair for buttons}; Cardstock-American Crafts; Silhouette Cameo and Sketch Pen; Adhesive-ThermOWeb

I used the ICraft SuperTape for basically almost all my layout.  This tape is great if you have bigger pieces to attach.  You can just place strips on each end, adhere one end down making sure it's lined up and then adhere the other side once you are sure.  The secret?  That red plastic comes off, so you are able to make adjustments until you are sure of where you want to place it!

Katrina Hunt-Simple Stories-The Spooky CrewStepouts-1000-1

And then there are Zots!  These little gems I use all the time.  I used them to attach my flair to that die cut laying there.  I really wanted to use the die cut, but the saying was "cutest spook ever".  Well, I have FOUR spooks!  I could have added an "s", but thought the flair piece was cuter!
Katrina Hunt-Simple Stories-The Spooky CrewStepouts-1000-2

And any time I want to pop something up, I reach for my 3D Foam Squares.  I love dimension on layouts, I cannot deny my addiction to these!  On this layout, I used them to pop up the "got dog" cluster, my journaling strips, and the o's in the word "spooky".

Katrina Hunt-Simple Stories-The Spooky CrewStepouts-1000-3

And to get this journaling was an entire day process in itself!  I had trouble in general with getting it just right, getting it printed out and getting it cut out.  But I love to do journaling with my Cameo, so I am sure I will try it again!

And yes, I know they aren't really "spooky"!  But, I had to have a title right?!

And to make it a more crafty day, I have a post up over on the 3 Birds blog today also!  You can check that project out over there!!!  It's a 30 minute layout!!!

Let's Talk Collections!!!

First things first.  I have a post up over on the 3 Birds Studio blog featuring a couple of fun treat bags and a card!  You can check out that post right HERE. They are super quick and are perfect for those special goblins in your life!

Now, I am changing things up here.  I am going to talk about what is catching my eye in new collections and fun stuff.  These are in no particular order, btw.

1.  Heidi Swapp's September Skies.  Had to have it.  Love the navy and green combo and I am quickly becoming a fan of all things Swapp.  Yep, those are my colors alright!!

2. 3 Birds Touch of Glimmer Kit.  And this isn't because I am on the design team.  I love this little kit and cannot wait to play with it more.  Here is a card that I made with the kit.  The kit will be available on HSN this month.

3.  Fancy Pants True Friend collection.  Yes, I had to have it and I have already played with it.  Well, the  6x6 pad that I got also!

4. And while we are talking Fancy Pants, the Oh Deer holiday collection is adorable!  I don't have it, but seriously I think it is one of the cutest holiday collections out there!

5.  Jillibean Soup's Cool as Cucumber Soup collection.  The colors are fun, the pea pod parts are adorable and it's a little different than my normal!  Hey a girl has to change it up once in awhile!

And I think I will just stop there, because I don't want this to get to long!  So what are you crushing on right now?  Let me know, I might need to see it!

Can We Bring Him Home???

Have you ever captured a picture that wasn't quite what you were thinking you were getting?!  I kind of love it when it happens!  The "crazy eye" picture of Jetson on this layout is one of those pictures.  This was the day we went to pick up Sheldon from his breeder, Laura.  We were all out on the back porch talking and letting the dogs get used to one another.

Gossamer Blue August 2014 Kits

I usually have no idea what to do with die cut numbers, but these worked perfectly, since we were going to have 4 dogs now!  The only thing is that Higgins wasn't in this series of pictures!
Katrina Hunt-Gossamer Blue-Can We Take Him Home-1000Signed-2

I just added this area at the bottom, because I felt like it needed something there.  You cannot tell from the photo, but there is a LOT of ThermOWeb 3D Foam Squares used in this area and on all layers!

Katrina Hunt-Gossamer Blue-Can We Take Him Home-1000Signed-3

And that is all she wrote for today.  Come back tomorrow for some of my favorite collections picks that are out right now!

Beautiful-A Flair for Buttons Share

The weather has cooled down to fall like temps (almost winter like) then it's warmed back up again!  But if you aren't quite ready for fall, I have a very spring like layout share today.

Today is {a flair for buttons} day on the blog and I also have a layout up over on that blog.  You can find that layout HERE.  It's a Sheldon one, so you don't want to miss it!

This layout is with my September Gossamer Blue kit.  Some of the papers in the kits were so soft, I thought they would be perfect for this photo of a Luna moth caterpillar I had printed out.

Supplies Not in Kit: Flair-(a flair for buttons); Sequins-Teresa Collins; Adhesive-ThermOWeb

Silhouette Cameo with the following cut file:
17 Turtles
Butterflies No. 1

The "beautiful" button from the Doilies and Butterflies flair set went so perfect with this cluster.
Katrina Hunt-Gossamer Blue-Luna Moth-1000Signed-3

And this camera flair piece from the "Capture Life 1" set just seemed to fit also.  The soft colors of the flair piece seemed to work well with the papers I used.

Katrina Hunt-Gossamer Blue-Luna Moth-1000Signed-2

I wanted a bigger butterfly than just what I had in the stickers.  I remembered that I had this 17 Turtles cut file, so I picked the one that looked closest to the "final" moth!

That is all for me this Monday.  Now, do you want to figure out what I want for dinner?!

Happy Fall Stroll with Imaginisce

This was up over on the Imaginisce blog yesterday.  If you want to see it over there, you can find it HERE.

I had quite the challenge with this Imaginisce layout, but I love it!  It is so funny, the projects that are the hardest for me, I end up loving the most.  Weird, but maybe all the work makes them more special! I had to create a fall layout with the collection I had.  None of which had many fall colors, OR if they did, I had already used those papers up!

Supplies:  Pattern Paper-Imaginisce (Bushel o'Fall, Welcome Spring, Perfect Vacation, My Baby-Girl, Little Princess); Die Cuts-Bushel o'Fall; Cardstock-American Crafts; Letters-American Crafts; Flair-{a flair for buttons} Etsy Shoppe; Sequins-Unknown, Twine-American Crafts; Adhesive-Therm O Web

Silhouette Cameo with the following cut file:
Assorted Leaves and Mushroom
Design ID# 34210

Design ID# 33026

Nothing says fall like an acorn right?!  I thought it would be fun to have this one at the corner of my  layout.  It's about 2.25 inches in size, just for reference.  I had actually cut it a little bigger, but then it overwhelmed the leaves in the area.

Added a cute little flair button at the bottom.  It actually just kind of fell on my layout, but looked so cute I had to add it!

Then I just had fun with my title.  I also sprinkled a few gold leaf sequins around.  And confession, those "l's" are actually ones!  I didn't have any l's, so I made do with what I had!

Well, that's a wrap for this Wednesday!  Have a great day and create something.
