Vellum with 3 Birds Design

Vellum, have you used it?  Me, not so much!  I started scrapping after it had kind of faded away. There have been pieces I have used here and there, but they were all plain, basic vellum.

Well, I am here to tell you 3 Birds is here to change that! The Midday Medley 12 x 12 paper pad collection has 10 pieces of vellum.  And not just any vellum, but fun pretty vellum, that I don't want to cut!

I used some on both my layouts today. The other layout you can see HERE over on the 3 Birds Studio Blog.  It was a hard one for me…..

This layout is based on the Creative Scrappers Sketch 276, I just loved the way it looked!

Decided to do my journaling in the chevron areas at the last minute.  Some of it got hidden by the doily!

I trimmed the flowers out of one of the 12 x 12 papers.  And those gems made a perfect trail!

I hope you have a great Tuesday.  Hopefully not too hot where you are at.  Here it's miserable.  I swear, I think I could cook something on the sidewalk in the afternoons!

Bunny Rescue And A New Cut File Shop!

If you have been around my blog for awhile, you will remember me talking about the baby bunnies we had in the yard.  We had three different sets of them we had to rescue.  Not sure why momma rabbit thought it was a good idea to build nests in the backyard with the dogs, but they did!

I managed to snag a few pictures of the first and second group after we got them relocated and protected from the dogs. These pictures are from the first litter.

This is one of the "three in an hour" layouts I did a week or so ago! I just stuck it and forgot about it!  LOL

I loved the little flower pick and thought it would be cute to add a bow.  Hey, a bow makes everything look cute!

Journaling tag, I decided to offset it for some reason.  It just looked better when I did.

Short and sweet today for a Monday.  BUT before I go, I love it when my friends start their own little fun things!

Juliana Michaels from 17 Turtles has started her own Etsy shoppe with cut files!  You have to go check it out.  She has a unique style and some fun cut files that I cannot wait to grab.  Go have some fun!

Out and About-The Cut Shoppe Sketch and a 3 Birds Design Sneak

At the crop this weekend, it was just fun to play around.  But during the week, I had to get three other layouts done for the Gossamer Blue album challenge.  And, I might have waited until the last possible moment that I could have!  I managed to do three layouts in three hours, a world record for me.  I am one that will fuss with a layout for a few hours or leave it sit overnight!

This one is for The Cut Shoppe's August sketch challenge. I used the "out and about" file on my layout and then my July Gossamer Blue kits.

I added a chipboard & to the cut out.  Just for fun!

I still wanted to cluster, even though there were lots of triangles!

AND, I am up over on the 3 Birds Design blog today!  You can find the posting HERE.  But, I am going to sneak a peek here!

CREATE Design Team Call and a CREATE Layout

Thought I would share a layout that was in the February issue of CREATE with you today, since I had not shared it yet.

This layout was based on a sketch in the issue, but I changed it up quite a bit.  And boy, do I miss Lily Bee Design!

Everyday Is aka Sheldon In A Top Hat-My Mind's Eye

Happy Tuesday everyone.  Told you I would have some My Mind's Eye on the blog and here it is!
I went to a crop this weekend and decided to just work on fun stuff, no design team work.  I think it was a break I truly needed.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the challenge of DT work and that's why I do it, but my mind just needed a resting period.

Katrina Hunt-My Minds Eye-Every Day Is-1000Signed-1

Supplies: Pattern Paper, Die Cuts, Chipboard, Sticker & Tag-My Mind's Eye (Just Because); Adhesive-Therm O Web; Photo taken by April Turner of UTurn Studios

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw this sneak.  And if you don't follow me on Instagram I would love for you to!  @katrinahunt is my Instagram account.

I was looking at the top hat wondering what I was going to do with it.  It fell on my layout near Sheldon and poof!  It was on glued and on his head before anything else was glued down on the layout!

I wanted the tag to hang off of my page, but still wanted my layout to fit in my page protector.  (hmmm..when I get around to putting my layouts in albums!) So I placed my tag where I wanted it and then put the edge of the tag on my trimmer at 12 inches.  Then I knew how much to cut off of the other side.

Katrina Hunt-My Minds Eye-Every Day Is-1000Signed-2

Large photo=minimal embellishing, at least in my book.  So the big chipboard piece was perfect for my title.  I added the polka dot heart just for fun.

Katrina Hunt-My Minds Eye-Every Day Is-1000Signed-3

I love this collection, I just wish there were more embellishments that went with it.  Or it could have been the fact that my pictures I had at the crop just didn't work with the collection.  That can happen!

Have a great Tuesday and I will be back tomorrow!

The Sweet Life-Gossamer Blue and Creative Scrappers

Well, this past month has been a little less than productive for me!  I was on a crunch to get my four Gossamer Blue layouts done for the Album Challenge.  I almost just skipped it entirely, but I was at the halfway point to a new album, so that was my motivation.

I used sketches for 3 of the layouts that were actually challenge sketches, so I killed two birds with one stone!

This is base on the Creative Scrappers Sketch #275 and you can find the blog posting with the sketch HERE.

Gossamer Blue July 2014 Kits

And just going to be honest here, I did not keep track of any of my supplies.  Shocker, but on these kits, I think from now on, I may not list them.  Just the month of the kit.  It's a lot of work to keep up with and generally I don't mind doing it.  The fact that I was in a hurry to get my four layouts done was the reason this time.  And for August, I have already done three layouts and didn't keep track of those since I was at a crop!  LOL

I decided this cute little cork piece would be the title focus of this layout.  I made a little cluster to tie it all together.

Katrina Hunt-Gossamer Blue-The Sweet Life-1000Signed-2

Since this picture was while we were on a road trip, I thought the car was fitting.  I also just used the arrows as fun little accents.

Katrina Hunt-Gossamer Blue-The Sweet Life-1000Signed-3

Thanks for stopping by my little blog today.  There will probably be lots of my layouts from my Gossamer Blue kits this week, plus maybe a little My Mind's Eye!

Imaginisce Back to School Take 2 and A Blog Tour

I am sharing my Take 2 Back To School project for Imaginisce here today!  This was on the Imaginisce blog yesterday.  You can find that posting HERE.  Plus all the other fun back to school projects over there!

Supplies: Pattern Paper & Die Cuts-Imaginisce (Perfect Vacation); Cardstock-American Crafts; Adhesive-ThermOWeb; Chalkboard-Michaels

Silhouette Cameo with the following cut files
A2 Hot Air Balloon Card
Design ID #46147

Dream Big Swirl
Design ID #36792

5 Clouds
Design ID #11654

This balloon file is one of my favorites!  Easy to put together and I give some tips on how to do it if you don't have a Cameo over on my Imaginisce posting.

I layered pattern paper and cardstock, just to give some fun details to the clouds.  And to make them stand out just a little!

And for the Blog Tour!

Linda Auclair asked me to participate in this fun way to meet and discover bloggers!  It's not a hop, it's a tour!  Linda has been on many design teams and has a great, easy going style that will appeal to a lot of crafters.  I discovered her thru her fab Echo Park altered projects that she did while on their team!

We are suppose to answer some questions about how we craft and what inspires us, so here it goes!

1. What am I working on right now?
That would probably be some assignments for CREATE.  This is a weird month of deadlines for me, so I am working on getting those done and sent off!

2. How long does it take to create a project?
Depends!  The project above went pretty quickly.  For altered, I usually have a pretty good idea of what I am doing.  Now layouts on the other hand…uhhhh, anywhere from an hour to several hours.  I get distracted easily by looking for Silhouette files, Facebook, etc!

3. What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?
Pattern paper, always pattern paper!  And 3D Foam Adhesive from ThermOWeb, along with the new Fabric Fuse Liquid Adhesive they just released.  And usually a doily!

4. How does my writing/creating process work?
Creating process is usually jumpstarted by a photo.  The photos get me in the mood to create.  Writing my blog entries is basically just me telling a story about my projects.  I tend to do a lot of blog entries in one setting, because I get into a rhythm of writing and I don't want to stop.

5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired?
Once again, it's usually a photo that I just have to create a layout with.  I will admit, sometimes it is hard to stay inspired. Sometimes it just the paper and embellishments that get me to create. I tend not to surf galleries, pinterest, etc for craft projects (food on the other hand!!) because I do not want to accidentally create something that I should give someone due credit for.   When my blog goes "dark" for awhile, there is a chance that I could be in a "funk" of not being creative.  Or, I have just not sat down to blog, which is a creative process in itself.

6. What is my signature style?
That's the question that I always find hard to answer!  I would definitely say that bright colors and fun clusters are part of my style.  There is usually a doily somewhere.  Layered and dimensional for certain are part of my style.

Now, I get to list a few people that will be on the tour next week on Friday, August 22nd!

Love this Canadian gal!  She currently designs for Pink Paislee, Jillibean Soup and SEI.  She has a unique, clean style that is totally opposite of mine!

This southern gal and I became fast friends while we were on the Sketch Support team.  She hit the fast track of design teams and is currently on American Crafts, A Flair for Buttons, Hip Kit and Echo Park to name a few.  She also has her own Esty digital cut file shop called The Cut Shoppe.

So go check these girls out!  And if you have  a link that you would like to share with me, let me know in the comments!

Have a wonderful weekend, I know I am going to try for sure!

Back to School with Imaginisce Take 1 And New CREATE Issue!

August is Back to School month on the Imaginisce blog and I have a couple of projects up this week.  BTW, something went wonky with the Imaginisce blog address so you can find the blog parked HERE.  Or if you want to see the address-  www.imaginisceblog.blogspot.com  They are working on it, but aren't sure of what is going on.  You HAVE to love technology!  This project was up on the blog yesterday.

I wanted to create a box that you could put some goodies in, use for room decor, and possibly use for something else.  I found a file for this pencil box over on SVGCuts. com and thought it would be adorable to use.

Supplies:  Pattern Papers-Imaginisce (My Baby, Perfect Vacation, Welcome Spring); Cardstock-American Crafts; Ribbon-Unknown; Ink-Hero Arts; Adhesive-ThermOWeb; Silhouette Cameo with cutting file from SVGCuts; Ribbon Cutter-Imaginisce

Owl courtesy of Carleen's pottery making collection!

I used the Imagicut Ribbon Cutter to cut my ribbon.  This is a fun tool to get your ribbon edges just right.  It will be great to take to a crop, where I really don't want to loose my good scissors!

One thing to note: You must have the Designer Edition of Silhouette software to use this file, since it is a SVG.  If you purchase the cut file, there is a PDF guide on how you are to size your pieces once imported into your Silhouette.  I went by the guide and it was wrong on several pieces and I had to redo.  So, once the files are imported, those were the sizes I should have cut.  I should not have resized them to what the PDF guide told me.  Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about that problem, so that you did have the same one!

Here is inside the bottom of the box.  You could put some candy, a gift card, paper clips…you get the idea!  I did tuck some tissue paper in the bottom, which also helped to steady it up a bit!

Back To School Take 1 is complete!  Have you ever had a problem with a cut file not working like you think it should?  Let me know!

The new issue of CRATE is out for August!  This is one jam packed issue that you do not want to miss!  You can download your FREE copy RIGHT HERE!

It's A Sketch with 3 Birds Design Studio

The 3 Birds team has been showing their takes on a sketch the past week and today is my turn.  And you know I LOVE  a good sketch.  You can see one of my takes on the 3 Birds blog HERE.  I would love for you to check it out.  And you can see the sketch over there also!

There is a totally funny story about this layout and sketch, but you will have to come back on Wednesday when I share it.

These were just some captured shots of Sheldon sleeping on the couch.  And yes, he does love the couch a LOT!  I love the fact that his little leg and paw are tucked up under the pillow.

Love These_2-14-8-11_KHunt-1

Supplies:  Pattern Paper-3 Birds Design (Midday Medley); Stickers-3 Birds Design (Sticker Flair Kit & Nestable Festival 12 x 12 set); LOVE-3 Bird Designs (3D Embellishment Kit Graceful Seasons); Doily-Wilton; Pen-Sharpie; Ribbon-May Arts; Punch-EK Success; Adhesive-ThermOWeb; Silhouette Cameo with cutting file

I honestly wasn't sure about the orange frame with the blanket on the couch, but I generally do not match my pictures to the paper anyway!  Are you a person that matches pictures to the papers?  I just decided to go with it, since my pictures were the right size without doing any planning.  I did pop them up with foam adhesive, since I had popped up my heart cut out paper, I almost had to!

Love These_2-14-8-11_KHunt-2

I adore this tag.  I think it's something with the colors.  Muted, but I love the blue/gray color.  I want a sheet of paper with that color!
Love These_2-14-8-11_KHunt-3

There was room on the sticker, so why not make a it a journaling spot!  I am always looking for ways to tuck journaling into my layout.  I don't journal a ton, but I have been trying to make an effort over the past year or so to include a least a little somewhere on my page.

Love These_2-14-8-11_KHunt-4

So, it's a busy week for me to share stuff!  This week, I will have Imaginisce, ThermOWeb and probably some Gossamer Blue kit layouts to share!  When it rains it pours, and it's apparently projects that pour!!  What did YOU create this weekend?  Let me know!
