A Day In The Sun

It's one page sketch week over at Sketch Support.  And you know that is my favorite week, because I am a one page kinda girl!  Sad thing is I KNOW I wrote a post for this before, but I must have deleted it.  So this is like deja vu...hee hee.

On this one I just made a few changes...rotated the sketch, changed the picture sizes and added more layers.

This is a Basically Bare chipboard sun that I just pieced some pattern paper on and then weaved the twine thru the rays.  This served a dual purpose...it was decorative and it covered the seam where the papers met from the rays to the center.  

I know the sun technically doesn't have a bow, but I thought it looked cute!

I got an Instax camera for Christmas and haven't really had a chance to play with it.  This day, I decided I was going to at the very least, get each of the dogs....this was before Sheldon came along!

I think I need to get that Instax out more!  I do think that you need more than one on a layout, just because they are credit card sized.

Nikki Sivils and The Twinery Blog Swap

I didn't realize how much I missed being on The Twinery team until I started working on this layout.  And yes, I know it doesn't mean that I can't add twine to anything that I am creating, but it was a bittersweet moment!  Ok, enough mushy stuff!!  On to the layout!

Guest Blogging at Scrapbook Steals Today!

Back in December, I was asked to guest blog over at the ScrapbookSteals.com blog.  You might be familiar with them, because they have ran a couple of Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker specials.  But, if you aren't sure what ScrapbookSteals is...it's just what it says!  Scrapbook supplies at great prices....who doesn't love a bargain? 

I was super excited when I found out I was working with American Crafts Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection!  This collection is their steal for this morning, so you better grab it while you can!  I only was asked to create a couple of projects.  I ended up with three and more in the works.  The colors are soft, bright and somewhat muted.  I know that probably doesn't make sense, but that is the best way I can describe it!  LOL 

Let's get to the projects I created with the collection!  I built both my layouts starting with the Phrase Garlands (SMILE AND LOVE) and went from there. These were great because you can slide the letters together and adjust them!

 LOVE LOVE LOVE these flowers!  And I had to cut that camera from a 12 x 12 sheet that is in the collection and at it to the cluster!

Next up a banner of a project!  LOL  Sorry, I just had to say that, I couldn't resist.  I like puns and I try to use them when I can. I usually think it's "punny"!  And this banner only took me about an hour!  That includes my sewing machine getting jammed up in the bobbin area and I had to get the tweezers involved!  I was kind of excited, Carleen really liked this when I showed her!  I think she may hang it in her office!

I just added some stitching with my pen and then I popped up the faux stitched hearts to make them stand out a little more.  And if you have a die cutter that will cut Kerri's kits..go, go QUICKLY and get them.  I have some and I have used them over and over!

Font I used was Helvetica at 72pt.  I then welded the words together.  American Crafts papers cut like BUTTER in the Silhouette!

I have to say amazing good blogging week for me...I have things that are schedule far in advance, I don't know what to do with myself!!!  This is going to be short though, because it is late and I am tired! Meet Sheldon!

Is this posting going to have crafty things in it?  Nope....well, a crafty thing might have lead to this post.  That puppy mini album I made....well, we ended up with one of the puppies!  Totally not planned, but totally the thing to do at the time!

Meet Sheldon, our new Cardigan Welsh Corgi.  He is named after Sheldon Cooper on Big Bang Theory (one of my favorite shows).  The funny thing is, Carleen came up with the name Sheldon.  Then after about a day, she realized that Sheldon's last name is Cooper and that the puppies dad's name is Cooper!  I keep telling everyone...meet Sheldon Cooper and she keeps saying "It's Sheldon!"  So, I say Cooper is his middle name.  LOL

Watch Out...Double Page Layout!

Yep, it's a double page layout from me!  You know they show up occasionally on here, you just never know when!  

This is the sketch over at Sketch Support this week and my take on it.  I changed some things, moved some things and basically made it my own, like I usually do!  I am going to apologize in advance, I am not linking the Silhouette files I used.  I am trying to get this posting done quick and I don't have time to go back and find them to link them.  IF you want to know what I used, just leave me a comment and a way to contact you and I will let you know!

A little stamping, die-cutting, punching and just placing embellishments here and there, I finally came up with the layout I liked!  And this Noah collection from Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker is a fun one to use.  I LOVE the yellow paper and I keep grabbing for it all the time!

Some Little Yellow Bicycle fun and a Girl's Night Out!

I love Little Yellow Bicycle and I got my hands on the Paradise collection finally.  So, you know I had to play some!  Everytime I see a new LYB collection, I fall in love all over!  And I found these these little 4x4 canvases at Michael's in a 9 pack on sale!  So, I still have 6 of them to alter.  I like them because they are thicker on the sides.  You need to cut the paper pretty much at 7 inches square to cover the canvas with one sheet.  I just did the ends like I do with wrapping paper to make them neat. 

I love the color scheme in this line, the pink pops against the other colors!

And Saturday night was girl's night out with one of my favorite 14 year olds! Ms. Riley asked me to go to the Jeff Dunham concert with her and we had a blast!  hee hee, her mom played chauffeur for us and dropped us off after dinner and then we just texted when the concert was over.

Here we are waiting for the concert to start and trying to get a picture.  I had my big camera, but I was afraid that they would take it away, so we were just using the cell phone.  

Epic fail on my part though...I was to make sure that no shirts with bad words on them were bought.  I manage to do that and Riley even said she couldn't get a couple of shirts because of that.  BUT, I let her get the Walter doll that she wanted!  Whooopss.....he says about 6-8 phrases...one of which is what the shirt had on it that she couldn't buy!  LOL  Oh well, her mom wasn't too mad!

DST sucks, I am just going to say that...and with that I am going to bed!

"hi" Card and Whoo hooo!!!!

As you might know, the card sketch is up over at Sketch Support this week.  I actually wasn't planning on doing it and just left it kind of sitting by my work area aka messy table in the front room that no one can walk thru.  *they can, but I would want someone to call before coming over*  Anyway, the sketch is a fun sketch, but I have felt like I just haven't gotten caught up since being gone to CHA.  

Do you ever just sit at your work area and try to figure out if you really want to create or not?  I was having one of those nights.  Then, I happened to look down and saw these dress forms from Basically Bare.  (and yes, I am loving their stuff since I finally got my hands on it!)  Since getting them from a win on Facebook, I have tried to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with them.  mmm...undone card sketch + fun dress form = just might be pretty cute!

So I dug out the border punch, ribbon, jute, Fabri Tac, and some of the older Amy Tangerine papers that I had stashed away....about 45 minutes later here is what I came up with....

And I made the design team for Basically Bare!!!!  I am under the "Scrap Star" category over on the announcement.   I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.  There is so much enthusiasm right now, I just know it is going to carry over into all our projects!

March Card and Tag Class at Scrapbook Generation

It seems like I just posted the one for February, but we are on a schedule now.  If you are local, the Card Party class is held the second Thursday of every month.  My area is "tools, techniques and whatever else I come up with"!  Three teachers, three cards, three tags and lots of fun.  According to Debbie, we are one of the most popular classes at Scrapbook Generation!

My tool for this month is the Jenni Bowlin ticket border punch.  I am going to show how to create that little row of tickets on the front of the card.  It's pretty easy, you just punch each side of your strip, making sure to line things up.  The trick is getting the right width of your strip, but I have it figure out that it's the little mark right before the 1 inch on my Fiskar's trimmer!  Don't ask me "what" the dimension is...I am only good with 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 marks!

Exciting News...Basically Bare Announcement

First of all, yes, you have been seeing a LOT of Basically Bare on my blog.  It's because I finally got my hands on some, had some time to play, and fell in love.  All about the time I fell, Basically Bare announced a design team call.  I thought about it for awhile and then decided I wanted to apply.  If I hadn't fallen in love with the product, I would not have applied, simple as that! I work  with products I love, keeps me happy! So, I am over the moon exicted to officially be a "Contender" for the final team!  This is my "Final Exam", so here it goes!

I was asked to pick three Basically Bare items that were my favorites and what we might make with them.  Now this is hard, because Basically Bare has so many fun products.  After looking thru the all the goodies, I narrowed it down to the following.....

Mixed Media Tabbed Album

The Mixed Media Tabbed Album is a great size, because it's BIGGER than most of them, so you have more room to work (or play!) on a page...like a "mini" size scrapbook page...OR you can use bigger pictures than I did for my Puppy Party mini.  Since I have started shooting all my pictures in manual mode with my Nikon, I thought it would be perfect to showcase some of my favorite shots that I have done on a bigger scale!

Signature Series-Paparazzi Set

Hee hee, with the reason I just told you above, I HAD to pick this Paparazzi Set!  It would be the perfect embellishment on those pages!  I think I need more than one set though...I can see it...A fun pattern paper camera that is different on every page!  and hey, these would TOTALLY end up on a lot of my layouts too!

Bare Basics-Cardboard and Chipboard Hearts

You know darn good and well there are going to be pictures of the dogs and things I love, so the Cardboard and Chipboard Hearts set is perfect to embellish with also!  They also come in canvas and felt, so of course I would have to have those also!  And I told you right now I have a love affair with hearts, so I can picture lots of fun things with these!!!

As far as what other supplies I would use, well, I have no idea!! One thought is using a Little Yellow Bicycle collection, although I am not sure which one.  Since I love LYB, that is a very definite possibility.   I do have the problem of a LOT of Studio Calico kits sitting around so there is another option.  Plus, a lot of the SC kits would work well together as far as color palettes and I would have a wide rage of goodies to choose from.  And of course, there would probably be some Unity stamping in there some where!!

Part Two of Puppy Party Mini

Are you ready for Part Two?!  I will say it was nice just to do something that was not design team related.  It almost "resets" my creative flow and gets me going again!  I do things that aren't DT related, but a lot of the time I may not post them, because I don't get pictures taken of them.  

These pages are just picking up where I left off in the previous posting.  Kind of like I put a bookmark in to come back to!

This page was a flap envelope and I didn't have enough pictures to fill up both sides.  So, I cut off part of it at the flap end, to make it fit my pictures.  BUT, then I slipped the flap end back over the shorter piece so that you could still see the flap!

See the flap?!  

LOVE this picture, it was one of my favorites that I took.

I wanted to use the acrylic arrow, but was trying to figure out what to do with it...decided that the word "chew" would be cute going down it.  

I am loving cutting hearts by hand right now!  What is up with that?!

I had so much fun making this. I am on the hunt for bits and pieces to add to my next one that I attempt.  I wish sometimes that I was a "minimalist" when it came to my projects, but that is so NOT the case.
