I had been subbing to Studio Calico for a year, but decided to switch things up and on NSD (national scrapbooking day) signed up for Cocoa Daisy. They also have a separate stamp subscription, so that you can get the stamps that come in the add-on kits, without getting the entire kit. Which in my case is a good thing...since I have paper and lots of it!
I had gotten my first kit in back in May and hadn't had a chance to play with it. I was trying to make some deadlines and the month just seemed to disappear! But, when Kristy posted the Mid Week Mojo (Turquoise 5) sketch this week for ScrapbookSteals.com, I knew I wanted to do it. I figured using my kit would be perfect for it! I changed it up in my usual fashion and came up with this layout.
Cocoa Daisy Main Kit (May 2012)
Supplies: Pattern Papers-My Mind's Eye (Miss Caroline), American Crafts (Sketchbook), Crate Paper (Storyteller), Basic Grey (What's Up); Letters-American Crafts and Jillibean; Ribbon-May Arts; Stamp-Cocoa Daisy; Butterfly-Studio Calico; Flag Banners/Pins (in kit)
Supplies used not in kit: Jute-May Arts; Button-American Crafts; Stamp-Unity S.M.A.K. (May 2012); Ink-Prima; Letters-October Afternoon; Pen-Zig; Adhesives-Fabri-Tac, Scotch ATG, Scrapbook Adhesives; Punch-EK Success
FRAP is an acronym that Corgi people have came up with when the dogs run frantically around with no reason at all, but just to play and run. I thought it was the perfect title for this, since Sheldon was doing precisely that!
I love how he is sticking out his tongue in a couple of the pictures. And you can see how big his front paws are! I shot all these pictures in manual and the lighting was just this way. I ran no actions or anything on these to give them this look. Just basic edits.
Then when I got done with the layout, I decided to go ahead and do the card sketch for the Monday Card Madness (Number 86) while I was at it! Since I already had a mess going, I figured that I might as well get a card done at the same time.
Cocoa Daisy Main Kit (May 2012)
Supplies: Pattern Papers- American Crafts (Sketchbook), Crate Paper (Storyteller), Basic Grey (What's Up); Ribbon-May Arts; Butterfly-Studio Calico; Tag- (in kit)
Supplies used not in kit: Jute-May Arts; Cardstock-American Crafts; Adhesives-Fabri-Tac, Scotch ATG, Scrapbook Adhesives;
This card is so much smaller than I normally make, but I was using up a scrap of cardstock that I had laying out. The funny thing is, I think this is a basic smaller card size!
I have already completed another layout and getting ready to do another card from the kit contents, so I have gotten some great mileage out of it. I know some people can get eight or nine layouts out of kits, but since I am not a cardstock person, I totally do not ever think I could get that many. I love my pattern paper too much!
I am hoping to update on Monday with what I am working on right now. Tuesday will be my guest spot for the Hello Spring Cycling Team over on the Little Yellow Bicycle blog. I had fun with the collection and can't wait for the post to go live. (I will also have instructions over there on how to make one of my layouts!)
Great layout and I really love that card, simple, but with just the right amount of charm :)
ReplyDeleteLove the layout especially the title
