Nikki and Basically Bare are swapping!!!

Well, I am going to have TWO projects for this, since I am on both Nikki Sivils and Basically Bare!  But, I don't care, because I love creating with both company's products!  Be sure to check out and comment over on Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog because we are having a giveaway and all you have to do is comment and you have a chance to win each day.

I have had this picture printed for the longest time, but just hadn't scrapped it. Part of the face was a little blurry.  BUT, I have decided I need to get over the pictures not being "picture perfect" and scrap them's about the moment that you captured it and if it's a little blurry, so be it! And this picture is of Suzy West and I when we were on the subway train to downtown Chicago at CHA July 2011...this was before my heatwave meltdown!

Supplies: Pattern Paper-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker (Audrey); Canvas Heart, Dress Form, Chipboard Flowers, Felt Wings-Basically Bare; Buttons-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker; Die Cuts-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker (Audrey); Punches-Martha Stewart and EK Success; Stapler-Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher; Adhesive-Scotch, Glue Arts and Fabri-Tac; Pen-Zig Millennium

This cluster just worked perfectly to place my die cut for my title.  I added the ruler and the buttons after...the canvas heart just needed something there and I didn't want to overdo it with a bunch of color...

and the dress form....I thought I would have a hard time using these...apparently not?  They are making appearances everywhere on my projects lately... And the skirt was perfect to place my journaling tag.

So that is my project that is appearing over on the Nikki Sivils blog.  Go see what all the Divas did and be sure to check out the Basically Bare blog....that team ROCKED the NS product they got!!  It is so fun to see other styles/designers using product that you use all the time.  There is always a new idea to be found!

This is MY Spot or At Least Higgins Thinks So!

I realized the other day that I haven't scrapped any pictures of Higgins recently.  If you have "multiple" subjects, do you feel a little guilty scrapping one more than the other?  I don't care if it is kids, dogs, cats, bunnies, or zombies, I feel guilty if one of the dogs gets scrapped more than the other.  Sheldon has been getting a lot of "face time", so it was time to change it up!

Ok my poll is....Do you like how I staged the picture of the full layout?  OR do you prefer it like I normally have them on here?  I just need to know going forward.  I already have some that I have taken this way, but if my readers like the "flat" only layout picture better, I can do either!  PLEASE leave me a comment letting me know.

And if you look close..I got my FAVORITE punch again, yippee!!!!  I couldn't wait to play with it.  I have had these pictures printed literally since I started scrapping.  The cabinet I picked up at Big Lots to hold some of my things in.  When we were getting it set up and the shelves figured out, Higgins crawled on in.  He is a crate lover and that is where you can often find him.

Supplies - Patterned Paper: My Mind’s Eye (Dolled Up Collection); Die Cuts and Stickers: My Mind’s Eye (Dolled Up Collection)Flair: A Flair for Buttons Etsy shopAdhesives: Scotch, Fabri-Tac and Scrapbook Adhesives; Twine: The TwineryBrads: My Mind’s Eye (Dolled Up);  Canvas Border: Canvas Corp; Lettering for Title: American Crafts and October Afternoon

Love the flair and it went perfect with the paper collection!

This spot screamed for another butterfly in flight, so yeah, I did it!

This layout is based on a sketch by Kristy over at  It's Turquoise #4 for Mid Week Mojo.  Here is a little more about Mid Week Mojo .  So, there are some great things over at for you to play along and I hope you do.  And this leads into the following announcement......

If you haven't heard....Sketch Support is taking a break.  You can read the announcement on the Sketch Support blog.  I know a lot of you are big Sketch Support fans and we love all of you.  I am going to miss creating for Sketch Support while we are on break, but I totally agree with the decision that Allison has made to take a break....sometimes you just need to step back and smell the roses, before picking back up and moving along.....

Happy Card with Authentique Delightful

A while back I order from A Cherry On Top a bunch of goodies that I posted about.  Well, recently I placed another order and picked up a couple of the newer Authentique collections just to get my shipping free.  I happily shop at my LSS, Scrapbook Generation, and I encourage you to support your local stores. Those are becoming fewer and fewer.  But they cannot possibly carry every single thing, it is just not good business.   I pick up the odds and ends that they don't online when I get the urge to get those things.

Delightful was one of the collections I picked up.  I grabbed it last night to make a quick card for the card sketch over at ScrapbookSteals this week.  Kristy made a cute sketch and I decided I wanted to make a card...perfect combo!  I did change the sketch slightly, but I love the way it looks as a square.

Supplies: Cardstock-American Crafts; Pattern Paper-Authentique (Delightful); Ribbon and Jute Twine-May Arts; Happy tag-Authentique; Button-Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker; Adhesive-Scotch and Fabri-tac

Here are a couple of close-ups....

The sketch is the Monday Card Madness Sketch 85, if you want to check it out!  Like I have said before, it is rare that I use a sketch twice, but I am really tempted with this one!

Enjoy the weekend!  My next post, I have a question for all of you and I would love your feedback when I post!

Puppy Kisses are BEST!

I have to declare that puppy kisses are THE BEST!  I had printed these pictures off to use in my mini album of the puppy party, but they were a little big.  So, I held onto them, and then I had the urge to scrap them on a layout!  And yes, sometimes I scrap pictures more than once, but they are MY albums and I don't care!  (especially if it is a REALLY good picture!)

This is for the one page sketch over at Sketch Support this week.  I usually would have passed by this collection, but something about the blue paper caught my eye.  Then I ended up buying the entire collection!  I can't seem to NOT buy an entire collection of least with the paper anyway!

Supplies - Patterned Paper: My Mind’s Eye (Dolled Up Collection); Die Cuts and Stickers: My Mind’s Eye (Dolled Up Collection); Cardboard and Chipboard: Basically Bare; Flair: A Flair for Buttons Etsy shop; Adhesives: Scotch, Fabri-Tac and Scrapbook Adhesives; Tags: Elle’s Studio; Twine: The Twinery; Brads: My Mind’s Eye (Dolled Up);  Lettering for Title:  American Crafts and October Afternoon

I wanted to put something in the corner here to fill in and the cardboard heart and chipboard button from Basically Bare fill the spot perfectly...I then added the flair button on top of the for an added touch.

I love to mix my fonts in my titles and since this was a long one, I had plenty of opportunity to do that!

Be sure to head over to Sketch Support and check out the sketch and what the other DT members came up with!

Did You Hear....and Teething Puppy

Where to begin, since it is 11:30 pm and I should be in bed?!  I am making this short and quick!

This layout was up over on the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog this week and is one of the ones that I hadn't shown here.  Ella LOVES to hang over the couch...actually all the dogs but Higgins do this.  Even Sheldon has picked up the habit!

This is with the Messages collections and was in the booth at CHA this past January.  She is just so darn cute!

And THIS would be the teething puppy, Sheldon.  Poor guy, he has had it bad this week off and on.  Frozen bagels and rubbing his head seem to help.  I know it has to hurt, because his little gums are all swollen.  He is growing like crazy.....he has gained 10 lbs since we brought him home!  Dr. B was even shocked, but said he is at a good weight and he may just be a big boy!  I caught this picture on my lunch hour this week.

One last thing...if you didn't see my post yesterday directing you to an announcement, well I made the Summer Design Team!!  I am super excited about it.  I love working with them and can't wait to get started!  Here is our cute little badge!

And here are the other two girls on the team...

Ok, I am off to bed to read my's call The Denver Cereal and for a free book it's pretty good!  I will be back tomorrow with some fun stuff!

Silly Girl for Basically Bare

Just a note, over the next few weeks, you will probably see a little more Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker than usual.  I have some things coming up and I realized that I have not blogged a ton of stuff over here!  So, if you love Nikki Sivils, you are in for a treat.  If not, get some ideas from them.  I will just post them here and there and probably won't even do supply lists.

I had a layout up over on the Basically Bare blog this weekend.  I am just now getting around to blogging it.  (note to self, get blog posts scheduled in advance).  I had a ton of fun making this one and it is totally OUT of my comfort zone.  The DT over at Basically Bare encouraged me to try it and see how it went.  I ended up LOVING this!  I don't want to do this type of layout all the time, but if I have time to play, it is certainly fun to do.

Supplies: Pattern Paper-American Crafts (Amy Tangerine Sketchbook); Basically Bare Embellishments-Dress Form and canvas skirt, Fanciful Frame, Banner pieces, Hearts (canvas and cardboard): Punch-EK Success, Jenni Bowlin, and Martha Stewart; Pen-Zig Micron and American Crafts; Stamp-Lawn Fawn; Ink-Jenni Bowlin; Jute-American Crafts; Doily-Wilton; Distress Stains and Martha Stewart Paint

The pattern paper made is pretty easy to get a little "artsy".  And I had fun doing it!  I went into a lot of detail over on the Basically Bare I am not going to do it here...If you want to know more about how I did anything, just leave me a comment, email me or head over to the BB blog!  I am just going to post some detail pics for your viewing pleasure.

I am falling more in love with the dress form...that I thought I would never use or be able to use!

I lucked out and my little picture fit into the frame!

Canvas hearts...luv these and then the pink and yellow is a cardboard heart cut in half.  I doodled!!!  LOL

That is all from me today.  It has been somewhat busy weekend and I am just going to try to get thru the week until Thursday.  I took Friday off to make an "extended" holiday weekend!!  See you later in the week!

Add-On Sketch Friday at Sketch Support and Nikki Sivils!

It is Friday and time for the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbook product challenge over at Sketch Support and the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog.  This week is the add-on sketch week.

I only got one project done for this.  I wanted to do two different ones, but I ran out of time. (note...I seem to be doing that a LOT lately!).  So, since I was so late, this is up over on the NS blog and not Sketch Support

BTW, this is a 6 X 12 inch layout....I had this small picture of Sheldon that I had printed, but the was small!  So, I decided to mix it up a bit.  I have lots of smaller pics laying around that I may start doing a few more of these sized layouts for!  I always print extras or not the right size.

Supplies: Pattern Paper-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker (Exit Here); Stickers and Die Cuts-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker (Exit Here and Noah); Buttons-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker; Jute-Stampin' Up; Adhesive-Fabri-tac, Scotch and Scrapbook Adhesives; Doily-Wilton

A close up of the add-on that I made for my title.....

There has been some conversation over on TwoPeas about if DT members always have to say they love something.  I only work with products I LOVE!  Yes, there will be things I am not "excited" about or not sure...but I consider it part of the challenge. (and it's like my real job....there are things I really really don't like to do, but I have do to them...part of the job) And yes, you will probably be able to tell, because I won't be "sure" about my projects, but I post them anyway!  I can tell you the Exit Here collection is one of my FAVS from Nikki.  I love the colors and just everything about it.

And I can tell you...right after the CHA crunch time...yeah...I really don't like or love ANYTHING that I have had to work with!  That feeling goes away after about a month or two, but I do have it!  LOL

Ok, enough of that!  I just wanted to let you know that yes, there are things I don't LOVE, but that doesn't mean I can't find a way to work with them!

Have a wonderful, fantastic Friday!

Segway Tour

If you have been a reader of my blog, you will remember back in the fall, we took a day trip and rode some Segways for the first time.  FUN FUN FUN!  Totally going to do it again.

I hadn't really scrapped any pictures of that trip yet, but I was in the mood the other day, so I got some ready.  I ended up using a Kerri Bradford photo collage just for fun and to get my pictures on the layout in some sort of straight-clean order! And I am in love with the "Lobster" font that I cut "segway" out of!  I also used a sketch from the new Sketches for Scrapbooking One Page book to base my layout on.  Of course, the only thing that even resembles the sketch is the photo collage!

Supplies: Pattern Paper-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker (Messages); Die-cuts-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker (Messages); Chipboard Letters-American Crafts Thickers; Brad-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker; Adhesives-Scotch ATG, Fabri-tac, and Scrapbook Adhesives; Ink-Prima Chalk Inks; Sketch-Sketches for Scrapbooking/Allison Davis; Photo Collage-Kerri Bradford

Silhouette Cameo with the following files

Lobster from

And the tree...such a fun, cool tree!  I was searching for trees in the Silhouette store and as soon as I saw this one, I knew it was the one.

Just a little close up of the ticket.  And the colors in the Messages collection are perfect for fall photos.

Well, I think I am going to head to bed.  I have a tendency to be a night owl and I had almost broken the habit...but a couple of weekends of staying up late I am back at it again!  Have a fun and wonderful Wednesday!

It's the ScrapbookSteals Blog Hop for May!

I am excited to be participating in the ScrapbookSteals blog hop for the month of May.  I had a guest design spot for them back at the end of March and it was a lot of fun.  So, I jumped at the chance to participate in the blog hop this time around. You should have arrived from Becci Manies blog...if not, go over and start at the ScrapbookSteals blog and work your way thru...there is a prize involved!

ScrapbookSteals has TWO steals a at 9AM and one at 9PM.  So, you have to be quick to get the deals and trust me they are great deals!  And along with the great deals they also have scrapbooking ideas to go along with what they are promoting that day.

Each of us was sent the My Mind's Eye Journal Card kit to play with.  At first I had thought about a banner, but then I just decided to put my banner idea to use on a layout.

Supplies: Cardstock-American Crafts; Pattern Paper-My Mind's Eye (Sweet Caroline Dolled Up collection); Tags-My Mind's Eye Journal Card Kit;  Twine-The Twinery Baker's Twine; Letter Stickers-My Little Shoe Box, LilyBee Design and Little Yellow Bicycle; Adhesive-Scotch ATG and Fabri-Tac; Ink-Jenni Bowlin (Weathervane)

I used a total of eight tags and only three partial sheets of pattern papers.
I surprised myself on that one.
Here are a few close up shots of the tags I used on the layout.

All of these tags were basically cut in half and then I covered the cut with the polka dot paper. This also gives me the other half of the tag to use on something else!

I love to try to tie tags/journaling spots into my layouts in the can give the title a little boost of detail and fun.

One of the tags was calling out to me to make a card with it, so I jumped in and made one of those too!

Supplies: Cardstock-American Crafts; Pattern Paper-Simple Stories (Fabulous); Ribbon-Maya Road; Tag-My Mind's Eye Journal Card Kit; Punch-Fiskars; Adhesive-Scotch ATG, Fabri-tac and Scrapbook Adhesives

Silhouette Cameo with the following file

(note-I created an offset for the "let the journey" part of the is not included in the file itself)

A closer look at the tag I used for the jumping point of the card.

    Sketch Support Two Pager!

Don't ask me...I am not sure what got into me!  When Allison sent us the sketches, I did the two page one first?!  I usually always start with the card sketch, since it is due first and then go on to the one page sketch.  Whee...totally changed directions and as I type this, I do not even have the card sketch attempted yet!  (this is mid-April, btw!)  Make sure and check out the actual two page sketch over at Sketch Support this week!

    Supplies - Patterned Paper: Jillibean Soup (Pasta Fagoli, Chicken Noodle, Dutch Mustard, Blossom Soup, Old World Cabbage Stew);  Stickers: Jillibean Soup (Old World Cabbage Stew and Chicken Noodle Soup); Transparency: Hambly Studio; Adhesives: Scotch, Martha Stewart and Scrapbook Adhesives; Ticket: Maya Road; Pen: Zig Micron;

    Title: Cut with Silhouette Cameo

A closer look at that transparency.....

And a close up of the title cut with my Cameo

Truthfully, I wasn't happy with this layout when I got it finished.  I felt it needed something and I still feel that way.  I don't know if it is because I used older papers that I am not totally in love with or if it is because the pictures are older and taken before I took my photography class and I know they could have been better.

BUT, I am leaving it.  If I decide to change it up, I will post the after pictures here.  Chances are that is NOT going to happen, but you never know if I get a wild hair!  LOL

    Have a wonderful day!!!

    Happy Mother's Day Card

Nikki Sivils and Sketch Support are teaming up all month long with a product challenge at Sketch Support and the girls over at Nikki Sivils are using the Sketches for Scrapbooking for at least one of their projects for the month.

Me, I get the best of both!  I participated with the card sketch for the Nikki Sivils part of the Sketch Support challenge.  You can see the card sketch over at Sketch Support (Card Sketch 19)

    Supplies - Patterned Paper: Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker (Audrey Collection); Cardstock: American Crafts; Punch: EK Success Adhesives: Scotch and Scrapbook Adhesives;

I used the back of the bonus sheet for the bottom layer of striped papers.  This is actually the collection kit cover sheet that shows all the papers that come in the kit!

I used the "Happy Mother's Day" from the punch out sheet and placed it over the "dear friend" sentiment on the index card tag.  I then used a little of the border in the punch out sheet.

So, there is my card based on the card sketch using Nikki Sivils products!  Now, you may ask if I am going to give it to my mom?!  Well, I don't know if I will...because she might have already seen this!!!
