Well, it's my last day for Growing in Unity!  (I choose to do only Monday-Friday) It's been fun to read all your wonderful comments!  And I really was nervous, since I do a lot of layouts!!!

So, let's get on with it!  Today...wait for it...a TWO page layout!  I don't do them very often, but I did this one while back and just hadn't share it, so I thought it would be great to put it during this week!

Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker Beatrice Collection;
Stickers: Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker Beatrice Collection;

A layout for Growing in Unity

Well, it's day 4 of my Growing in Unity.  The week is flying by....might help since I have "pre-scheduled" all these posts!!!  I don't think I have ever pre-scheduled this many posts before!!  LOL

Well, lets get to it!  The layout below shows how you can add stamping as elements that are very subtle, you can fussy cut out the stamped images to give them more dimension and arrange them differently.  You can combine journaling spot stamps with sayings to make fun little extras on your page!

Growing in Unity with a card!

If you are stopping by, it is my Day 2 of Growing in Unity!  One lucky commenter will win a kit of their choice (from a list that I have) by commenting all week!  So you know you want to!!!

I love the Unity images, because they are fun, funky and oh so cute!!!

Supplies: Pattern Paper-Echo Park Summer Days; Cardstock-American Crafts; Stamps-Unity KOTM May 2011; Twine-The Twinery Baker's Twine; Adhesive-Scotch ATG and Scrapbook Adhesives; Ink-Jenni Bowlin and Memento

So, here's a card!!  And here's a tip...you know those journaling spots that you get with pattern papers or in packages, look what you can do with them!  I just took one, trimmed it down a bit and then stamped on it.  There is a bird on the tag, but I just fussy cut my package out and pop dotted it right on top!

I am not sure what I am posting tomorrow, so make sure and check back!! Don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win!!!

It's going to be Unity Week here on the blog!!

Well, I got braved and signed up for Growing in Unity (or GIU as I am going to call it from now on).  GIU is where you sign up, and then post a new project all week long.  On Wednesday, Unity features you and one of your projects on the Unity blog.  Needless to say, I am a little nervous!

Also, the best part is that ONE person will win a kit of their choice (from a list that I have) from commenting here all week!!!  So, you know you are going to want to be in on that one!!!

So, let's get to it.  Most stampers are card makers, but I have gotten to where I love to incorporate stamping into my layouts!!  If you are a regular here, you know that!!  So, there will be some card inspiration along with some layout inspriration.

So, here's my first layout this week.  I am going to show you how it's VERY simple to just add one stamp to a layout.  Easiest way and the way I started with Unity....journaling blocks!  And Unity has a ton of them!

 Supplies:  Pattern Paper-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker Summer collection; Stickers-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker Summer and It's Your Day collections;
Brads-Nikki Sivils, Scrapbook Cool Cord Brads;
Stamp-Unity Stamp Co.-Total Cuteness;  Letters-American Crafts Thickers;
Punches-Martha Stewart and EK Success; Twine-The Twinery Baker's Twine;
Ink-Jenni Bowlin
Adhesives-Scotch ATG and Scrapbook Adhesives

So, if you are looking for a way to incorporate stamping into your layouts, there is a super easy way!  I just stamped that little journaling block on some fun pattern paper (or you can use plain cardstock!), wrote my journaling, and then dressed it up with a few stickers that I pop dotted for some dimension!

Don't forget to comment!!!  And come back tomorrow....I haven't decided what I am going to put up yet!!!

It's a Just Jingle Kind of Day!!!!

When I first starting blogging and then tweeting, I "met" a girl that had a blog named "Just Jingle".  Well, then I saw her fun profile pic of her mugging for the camera, and then she LOVES GNOMES, so yeah....we have kept up with each other!!!  The reason I am telling you this is because my blogging online pal, Jingle, is having a Giveaway Day on her blog.  How fun is that?!  And I am participating!!!!

So, first of all this is what I am giving away!!  An assortment of 6x6 mini pads, a mini album, buttons, brads, and stickers from Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker!  These are older collections, but they are some of my favorites.  And if you haven't ever used the Cute as a Button burlap buttons, you are going to love them!  So adorable!  Here's a pic of what you will be getting from me:

And I am not only giving away that...but something else, you are going to have to wait till the bottom of the post for!
I was up over at Sketch Support on Thursday with the Add-On sketch.  Sometimes these are hard for me, but this one just clicked!!!

Supplies - Kit: Studio Calico (Summer Camp); Adhesive: Scotch ATG and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Ink: ColorBox Cat’s Eye

some close-ups

Ok, so you want to know what else I am giving away?!!!  Well, here it is:

I made this for CHA Winter this year and I am giving it away along with the stuff above to one lucky person from Just Jingle's Giveaway Day!!!!

To enter and possibly win, you need to read the rules over on Just Jingle's blog.  But, you can leave me a comment, because that is one thing you have to do to enter!

Teeny Weeny Not Polka Dot.....

Hello Thursday!!!  I personally can't wait until tomorrow, but hey, Thursday is one day closer!!!!  LOL

I had a project up over on The Twinery's blog yesterday, so I thought I would post it here today in case you didn't get to go over there!!

Supplies: The Twinery Baker's Twine in Blossom, Lemondrop, and Caribbean; Pattern Paper-Echo Park Splash; Embellishments-Echo Park Splash;
Stamps-Unity Stamp Co. and Hero Arts; Ink-Jenni Bowlin
Adhesive-Scotch ATG, Fabri-tac and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L
Here are some close-ups of where I used the twine!

And I had to include a close up of the water and fish!!  I fussy cut the water and pop dotted a layer on top of a layer, then I toock the cardstock sticker fish and placed them on and in between the layers!

So, I hope I have shown you some different ways to add twine to you layouts whether you tie it, knot it, or outline it!!!

Here's a project that I hadn't posted yet.  It's some work I did for the new Crafter's Companion product called Paint Fusion...here is a little more about it

 We have Sheena Douglass stamps on the site here...but this is a brand new item that is debuting for Crafter's Companion.  It has stamps, paints, and a DVD to get you on your way to crafting with paints!  It makes you look at your crafting supplies in a whole new light.  Sheena walks you thru learning the techniques she uses to create fun backgrounds, flowers, and more.

I worked with the Butterfly set...and let me tell you...if I can do this...ANYONE can.  I admit I was a little more than nervous...but after practicing a bit, I started to get the hang of it.  Now...the sets have stamps that you can stamp the image and then paint over the stamped area as a guide.  I did that a few times, but then I got brave and tried the butterfly on my own...and I liked the way it looked without stamping on this particular piece, but I have another that I am going to turn into a card that is stamped and painted that I love also!

Here is what I came up with....I love to alter things, so this is a perfect compliment to that!

A little tip if you want to cover your canvas with paper....I cut my paper about 1.25 inches larger on each side, this gives you paper to roll over and create a clean edge.  My canvas was 1/2 inch thick, so you would have to adjust that if your canvas is thicker.  I covered my canvas with some paper from the Fairyopolis 12x12 paper pad.  I thought the butteflies would look great with my project!

We were also given some Embellishing Die Cut chipboard shapes.  You can see that is what I have the butterfly mounted on and the word "life".  Let me tell you, I LOVE these things...I want more!  They are great to use to create the backgrounds.  The background I created here is explained in the Paint Fusion DVD and I will be using it A LOT...I love it...and here is a secret...it uses lip balm!  hee hee...you will just have to get the DVD to figure it out!

Here are a couple of close ups.  I did the butterfly free hand on some cardstock and then fussy cut around it.  I can't wait to try this with the flowers!  If you do use the stamp, I would use the "generation" technique of stamping off after you ink your stamp up so that you have a lightly stamped image to paint over!

Well, that's it for me today!!  If I can do this, anyone can.  And the plus side is I only made a "little" mess!!!  So, head over to the Crafter's Companion website to check out all the new Paint Fusion items that you are going to NEED to add to you crafting collection!

Hi...I think I am back....maybe....

Whew, that darn sinus/cold/allergy whatever you want to call it has kicked my bootie!  I truly did not scrap for over an entire week.  I was just too tired and worn out.  And then that led to no blogging either.  So, that's why I haven't been around this past week.

I did get some exciting news this week.  I was featured, along with several other talented ladies, on the ClubCk blog with a layout.  You can check that out HERE.  Totally did not expect it at all, since I had uploaded the layout a while back!!

Photobucket

And then I had submitted a layout to the Cricut Magazine that Northridge Media puts out and it was accepted!!  I am so excited...it will appear in the October issue.

We did find a new show that we are addicted to!!!  Well, it's not new, but new to us since we don't have cable!  Have you heard of the show "Dexter"?   Yeah, you know I like something when I post a pic!
From Dexter Facebook Page
It's on Showtime, but we can get the older seasons on Netflix.  Yeah...we have made it thru season two now!  You start it and you don't want to stop watching!

Ok, on to scrappy!  I was up over at Sketch Support last week with a double page layout!!!

Winner and a Canvas

First of all, I owe you all a winner.  Sorry, I came down sick on Sunday and I was a little out of it yesterday....nothing major, just a sinus infection, but when they hit, they hit me hard!  Let's just say I was OUT on the couch all evening.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments and leaving the reasons why you scrapbook!  I scrapbook for the creative process...I love to play and it's the best form!!!

So here is the winner drawn by random.org....Peggy, I will be contacting you soon!

Peggy said:  My daughters got me started. I love sharing this with them - not only the scrapping but the shopping, too. Really glad they got me started as I love taking pictures. Now we can enjoy them together.

So here's a little something I made in a class at Scrapbook Generation a couple of weeks ago.  Tammy Tutterow is one amazing "stuff maker" and I couldn't wait to take her class!!!  If you get a chance to take a class with her...DO IT...you won't regret it!

 Not giving a supply list...this is Tammy's class and I want you to take it!

I had to take the picture really quick between some of the rain we were getting, so it's not the best picture taking that I do...but I am IN LOVE with this canvas...it is so cute...and Tammy put so many touches into it!

And here is a pic of Tammy and I that we had her mom take!  Love her mom, Shirley, she is a DOLL.!!  Of course, we take the picture at the END of the class and not before!  LOL

Ok, that's it from me.....I can't breathe, Glee is getting ready to come on....and I REALLY need to get my scrap stuff out and get busy!!!
Have a wonderful Tuesday night!!!

Unity KOTM Challenge!!!

Ok, I am IN LOVE with Pink Paislee's Hometown Summer collection since taking the canvas class at Scrapbook Generation last Friday with Ms. Tammy Tutterow.  Loved it so much, I ended up buying the collection!!!!  And Tammy is making me into a "stuff-maker" pretty quickly!!!

Unity has a couple of challenges on their blog...one of which is a new one for using their Kit of the Month kits.  I LOVE their stamps, get KOTM, so it's only necessary that I play right?!

Here is my take on the sketch for this month...this is my favorite card I have made up to this point!!!!

Supplies:  Pattern Paper-Pink Paislee Hometown Summer collection; Cardstock- Bazzill; Stamps- Unity Stamp Co. Dec. 2010 KOTM; Embossing Powder-American Crafts; Ink: Versamark, Memento, and ColorBox; Punches-Martha Stewart and EK Success;

And part of my card was inspired by Deana Boston....I love the way she uses border punches to "funky" up the sides of her cards, so I thought I would try it!!!  LOVE it!!!  Thanks Deana!
