Here's a project that I hadn't posted yet.  It's some work I did for the new Crafter's Companion product called Paint Fusion...here is a little more about it

We have Sheena Douglass stamps on the site here...but this is a brand new item that is debuting for Crafter's Companion.  It has stamps, paints, and a DVD to get you on your way to crafting with paints!  It makes you look at your crafting supplies in a whole new light.  Sheena walks you thru learning the techniques she uses to create fun backgrounds, flowers, and more.

I worked with the Butterfly set...and let me tell you...if I can do this...ANYONE can.  I admit I was a little more than nervous...but after practicing a bit, I started to get the hang of it.  Now...the sets have stamps that you can stamp the image and then paint over the stamped area as a guide.  I did that a few times, but then I got brave and tried the butterfly on my own...and I liked the way it looked without stamping on this particular piece, but I have another that I am going to turn into a card that is stamped and painted that I love also!

Here is what I came up with....I love to alter things, so this is a perfect compliment to that!

A little tip if you want to cover your canvas with paper....I cut my paper about 1.25 inches larger on each side, this gives you paper to roll over and create a clean edge.  My canvas was 1/2 inch thick, so you would have to adjust that if your canvas is thicker.  I covered my canvas with some paper from the Fairyopolis 12x12 paper pad.  I thought the butteflies would look great with my project!

We were also given some Embellishing Die Cut chipboard shapes.  You can see that is what I have the butterfly mounted on and the word "life".  Let me tell you, I LOVE these things...I want more!  They are great to use to create the backgrounds.  The background I created here is explained in the Paint Fusion DVD and I will be using it A LOT...I love it...and here is a secret...it uses lip balm!  hee hee...you will just have to get the DVD to figure it out!

Here are a couple of close ups.  I did the butterfly free hand on some cardstock and then fussy cut around it.  I can't wait to try this with the flowers!  If you do use the stamp, I would use the "generation" technique of stamping off after you ink your stamp up so that you have a lightly stamped image to paint over!

Well, that's it for me today!!  If I can do this, anyone can.  And the plus side is I only made a "little" mess!!!  So, head over to the Crafter's Companion website to check out all the new Paint Fusion items that you are going to NEED to add to you crafting collection!

  1. Hi
I've seen Sheena do a few demos of the Paint Fusion and the effect does look brilliant - this project is so pretty. I love the blackberries stamp that she does but she makes it look so easy and so do you but the effect is great so it can't be! :-)
