Queen Kat is Hopping again....I have a Merry Christmas for you!!!!

This week our inspiration was a pair of shoes...now here is the pic that we were to go from....but we could pick ANY shoes that inspired us....

So...who has famous shoes.....Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz of course.....Shiny Sparkly red!!!

Here is my creation...a Merry Christmas Door Hanger with some sparkly embossing, including RED!!!

Queen Kat Hop

Here's the inspiration we had for today's hop...I love these colors together!!!

Chocolate (NOT TO EAT!!!), Ginger, Taupe, and Cranberry

I have to admit...I was a little stumped on this one.  But I loved the color combo and knew it would work for a layout!  Luckily, I had bought Echo Park's "A Walk in the Park" collection kit and these colors were in there!!!  Yippee.....problem of papers matching solved!!!

I actually took the pic on the layout with a phone app that I found. I think it was called Retro Camera.  It has all kinds of funky and fun frames and effects!  And best of all....free app!!  Whooo hoo...I would pay for this one though!   

And when I saw the stamp on this layout...I knew I had to have it for my collection...how versatile and useful it will be, especially for layouts!!!

Goal Achived and a LAYOUT!!!!!

Wow....I got ALL of the 23 cards for Unity's WCMD challenges over at SplitCoast Stampers DONE!  I finished them up Monday night...photographed the last two today at lunch (Wednesday) and got them uploaded and posted to my gallery over there in record time.  I didn't wait until the last minute...which happens a lot currently, so I was pretty happy!

Sitting here watching the Katie Brown Workshop....I can't decide if I like the show or not.  You know I am a Martha fan...and sometimes I think she is trying to rip Martha off...other times, there is some cute stuff on there.  Hey, I gotta take what crafting shows I can get, since there is no cable or satellite in the house!  LOL LOL

Bella Blvd posted on their blog that Stephanie Hunt's (owner of Bella) brother-in-law was taken away from them in a sudden and tragic car accident.  They are collecting handmade thank you cards for Angela (Stephanie's sister) to use.  If you would like to donate any, here is the info  CARDS.  I wish I would have made more thank you cards to be able to send.

This week was a sketch challenge using the following sketch....a simple but fun sketch I think!!!  

 

How cute is that?  My challenge was the sentiment down the side....but I figured it out!!!  And here is my take...these snowflakes are from the new Christmas set!!

I really wanted my snowflakes to be white...and I didn't have a good white ink to get them to show up and it was late.  So, I pulled out the embossing powder and the heat gun and went to work.  I think I may start embossing more.  I love the American Crafts embossing powder, it just seems to cover and melt really well!

A lot to share!!!

Well, it's been a busy weekend and I am just now getting around to doing a blog post!  I had intended to do one on Saturday...but it didn't work out...and I was a little grumpy...so it's probably a good thing!!!!

I was contacted by Quirk Publishing asking if I wanted to giveaway a book on my blog!!!  There are some GREAT Halloween ideas in here, super easy, super cute and super fun!!!!  I had planned on making something to highlight the giveaway, but I haven't had time do it and I want to get this book into someone's crafty little hands so you can do all sorts of neat stuff for Halloween!!!!

Friends with Flair Friday...Unity Love anyone???

Hey everyone!!!  Unity Stamp Co. has this great Friends with Flair hop every week.  I haven't ever participated before...but since I am taking a vacation day today (at the last minute!) I thought I would join in the fun!!!  The FWF is limited to 50 Unity lovers to show off some Unity projects they have done....and a chance for you to comment and leave a little love for everyone while being totally inspired!

The best part is there is a Friends with Flair Badge that you look for on everyone's blog.  And if you find the blog that has the badge and comment you might just win 25...that's right 25 stamps from Unity!!!  How cool is that??  BUT you have to look!!!  

So let's get to my Unity projects.....I am sharing a couple of cards that I made for the challenges over at SCS (SplitCoast Stampers) for WCMD, plus I am reviving a layout that I have already posted on here...but I made it with Unity and love it, so I thought it was post worthy for the FWF!

I love that bird stamp...the stamps I used are various one...the two brackets on the sides of the photo, plus the journal spot are also Unity Stamps!!

heArt of Scrapbooking debut...

Well, if you are reading this on Wednesday, it's my first posting over at Debby's Dare aka the "heArt of Scrapbooking".  She challenged me with some Graphic 45...so not my style, but I came up with something to make it mine!!!

Here's a couple of sneaks...but if you are a dear...please head over there and leave me some love!!!  I would LOVE it if you did!!

So, I haven't gotten any more cards made yet...tonight was pet therapy on the children's floor with Ella Boo Bear...so by the time I got home...GLEE was on (hee hee) and then I was just too tired to drag anything out to work on.  

Here is another one of the cards I have completed out of the 23 challenges...I really really like this one, even though it is very simple and plain!  

Supplies:  Core'dinations Cardstock, Unity Stamps,  Versamark Ink, American Crafts Embossing Power,

Fabri Tac Adhesive, Ribbon is unknown.

Cardstock, three stamps on the same block, Versamark, emboss, add ribbon...voila done!  I am thinking this would be really cute with some pattern paper and those stamps popped up...mmm...see another card coming!!  And if you have never embossed..it's quite fun.  And I seem to be hooked on this Vanilla color from AC. I love their embossing powders that are opaque...they cover and melt well.

Well, I am running out of things to talk about...OH NO..ha ha....nah..just tired...gonna hit the bed early tonight I think.

It's Play Date Cafe Time!!!

And here is my entry....this card was really quick and I really didn't have a "rusty" orange, so I did the best I could do out of my stash...you would think with that mound of ribbon and paper I have, I could have come up with it...but NOOOOOO....hee hee

I got inspiration to use this camera stamp because of the flash and the light in the picture that we were to go by for the colors!  

The pic isn't my best....the light is starting to fade earlier in the evening and since I didn't get to come home for lunch, I had to work quickly to get pictures of all the cards i made this weekend.  Unity is having a giveaway if you complete all 23 challenges they have for World Card Making Day!!!  Kit of the Month for a year!!  I am so trying to complete all of them...we shall see!

Enjoying a cool Treat!

Well, in this part of the USA, we have officially hit fall status I think!  I am I super excited about it!  Love the cooler weather, changing leaves....and the fact that SNOW is just around the corner!  Hee hee....Snow girl...I think I was born in the wrong part of the country....the stork's GPS was low on battery power or something and just dropped me in the middle of Missouri, instead of Alaska, Minnesota, or Colorado.  

So, to close out the summer and usher in fall, here is a layout I did about one of our favorite summer treats.  It is just a combo of all kinds of fruit and juice...oh don't forget the sugar!  Freeze overnight or longer.  Then let it sit out for a bit to get "slushy" and then scoop in a cup and eat!  Yummy!!!

This was up over on Nikki Sivils blog earlier this week.  I had some fun with misting and using lots of ribbon....I have went back and added some buttons in the corners...but I didn't retake the pictures!!   So just imagine some buttons in there!

And in other news...I went to the dr. because my right arm was hurting...it has been for awhile, but I have been just putting off going to the dr. and just babying it.  Well....here is what I found out.....

All I can say is.......SCRAP MUCH????  LOL LOL....it will be fine...just need to take it easy and wear this for a bit!  Apparently, scrapbooking is a rough hobby for me...I have strained my back (probably lifting my rolling tote), cut my hand with the Tim Holtz scissors...and now this!!!   

I am a klutz anyway...so it wouldn't matter what hobby it was!  LOL LOL

 

Ok, I am off here to enjoy the day, scrap some and maybe watch a movie!!!

Have you heard....World Card Making Day!!!!

It is World Card Making Day, people!!!  Drag out those supplies and get to making some cards!!!!  There are challenges, inspiration, and giveaways all over the internet, Facebook, blogs, etc.  And some of them are HUGE! 

I am a new found card making person since the summer and decided that I LOVE to make cards.  I was anti-card before.  Not in the "will never make a card kinda way"....but more of the "I don't have enough room to play and my cards are ICKY looking" kinda way!  I always thought my cards were not pretty enough, etc.  So, I forced myself to start making them and.....just like with anything else....practice helps!  

note:  I am not stating perfect....nope.....because my cards aren't!!!

Thought I would share a card today.  (ha ha!) It was part of the design team's challenge by Susan Dupre over at Nikki Sivils.  Theme:  Back to School -make anything you want!  

Well, I decided to make a couple of things.  One I already showed was the layout of me and my beloved Fannie girl when she passed her Canine Good Citizen test.  You can see that entry HERE.  

The other thing I decided to make was the card below.

American Crafts Cardstock, Watercoulor paper and pencils, Scotch Adhesive

This was my first true attempt and using my watercoulor pencils by mixing, etc.  I was happy with my results!  I know...most school houses you think of red...but my papers that I used were more orange in color than red and it just sort of worked out that way!!  Plus, I think it gives it a nice fall type feeling!!!!

Ok, peeps...I am off to make some cards!!!  (actually I think a shower first...gotta get up and going!)  So this is just a fair warning...I will probably be showing lots of cards in the next few weeks!!!  hee hee  But I am totally a layout girl at heart!
