Sketch 162 AND MY NEWS!!!!

Ok, first of all....I made another design team!!!! It is for a new kit club/online store that is opening called Denim and Daisies. The website if you would rather see it is www.denimanddaisies.net

AND it's both traditional scrappy goodies and DIGITAL...that's right...both!!! How fun is that!? So be sure to check us out soon!!!!

Ok, now for Scrapbook Challenges Sketch Reveal. This is Sketch 162. And let me just say first of all, I played with the sunflower picture color in PSE. I used cyantype which gives it the blue/green hue that you see. So, my pic of my layout isn't THAT bad...I "added" effects to the picture that I scrapped! And if you do the sketch, PLEASE let us know!! Pamela Young, the group owner, is talking of going thru her stash and possibly offering a goodie to someone who does the sketch and lets us know!!!! You can find her blog HERE

Layout for a Cause, Halloween Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker style and some news....

Supplies: Bo Bunny Tis the Sesaon Line Patterened papers, Jenny Bowlin Bingo Card, Bazzill Cardstock, Cat's Eye Inks, Maya Road Ribbon, Core'dinations Cardstock, and Twine

Well, first the news....I can't say yet! Let's just say I am super excited and as soon as I get the ok, I will shout it out here!!!!

I was asked to teach a class for a charity crop that is coming up on Oct. 24, 2009. It is for Polk County (Missouri) Habitat for Humanity. I was flattered that they asked and wondered what I could come up with. Sheri from The ScrapNook suggested a Christmas themed layout. So, I looked at paper and loved the Bo Bunny Tis the Season Christmas line and snagged it up. And I have told you before...I don't do two page layouts! This came together fairly quickly and I had fun doing it. If you are in the area, I hope you decide to attend the crop. For more information visit the Facebook page
HERE or you can contact The ScrapNook's Bolivar location for more info or to sign up. The cost of the crop is 45.00 until Oct. 10th after that it's 50.00. Classes are an additional fee. It will be fun and for a good cause!!!!!

And if you haven't seen Nikki Sivils blog, she has some ROCKING layouts from her Design Team. They are rocking the Boo-tiful line among others!

Deana Boston....Wow....what a use of Halloween papers for a non Halloween layout...I think the girl likes fashion!!!!

And Emeline Seet did a wonderful job on this Halloween layout....Love the Blue Moon

So, if you are looking for some FUN halloween papers to work with for those great costume pics, or other pics that you just want to do something different with, check these out!

Well, I am off here, I need to get some scrapping done for Scrapbook Challenges! I have a challenge coming up. You should join us, we are a fun bunch. And this coming weekend, we are having a Blog Hop, so be sure to check it out...there are going to be some Prizes along the way!!!!!!!

Have a scrappy day!!!--Katrina

My attempt at cards.....

Supplies: Core'dinations cardstock, Sassafras Papers, Thickers, Making Memories Alphas, Lace and Ribbon unknown, Cuttlebug embossing folders

Well, here are a couple of cards that I tried....I love the Celebrate one and the Hi one isn't too bad. It's weird how when I make something it's either I LOVE it....or it's just ok. I wanted to redo the Hi one, but I didn't have time. I hope Andree liked it!

Both cards I embossed on the Cuttlebug and used Core'dinations Cardstock (love that cardstock!)

alright off here for the night...I should have been scrapping, but I got wound up on the net and just stayed there!!! And pardon the pics....it was nighttime and I didn't have a great setup to take them in!

Have a scrappy day--Katrina

What do YOU have trouble with in Scrapping???

Ok, I am confessing....I STINK at card making. I think...whooo, I'll make a card...and then it all goes to somewhere in a hand basket...without a bow!

I don't know why I have such trouble with them. I love handmade cards, LOVE them....but I have trouble just figuring out what size to make them, then what am I going to put on them, etc.

Does ANYONE else have this trouble? I see all these fabulous cards by all of these wonderfully talented ladies and I am just in amazement. I think...I could do that...and then I try. Well, let's just say I am less than successful.

The card that is a couple of posts down isn't hard for me....I can do that one without even thinking about it. Easiest thing on that one is to grab a paper pack of coordinating paper and go to town. You give me a blank piece of cardstock and the mind just shuts down.....no creativity, no isnpiration, nahdah.

I did make a couple of cards tonight, one is for a birthday, so I can't post it yet. I don't know if she is out there looking! And the other one, I can't post either because it's going to around the same place the first card is. ;) They are ok, but I WANT to do better on them.

I don't know if it's that I am scared to use my good stuff on just cards instead of my pages, if the space on the card is too small (I think this is a lot of it...), or if I am just in the card challenged group and will never get off of that bus.........

Alright, I should have LOTS of goodies to post soon. I am planning on a few movies, lots of scrapping, and maybe a few naps this weekend! I think I will get caught up on all the challenges over at Scrapbook Challenges on Myspace (come visit, I tell you...it's great fun!). And then maybe work on a DT submission...I can't decide about that one......

Have a scrappy kind of day and I will catch you tomorrow or Saturday--Katrina

SKETCH 161

and mine!

Whoo Hoo, it's Monday and time for my reveal finally!!! I am really excited about this layout. This is the first one that I have used paint on, painted on the lace, grunged up, you name it!! And it has no pictures. This was so fun to create and just an easy layout that came together.

This is the sketch that we worked from. Pamela does such a great job on these sketches and I am so lucky to be a part of her team! We would LOVE for you to play along. Pamela is doing RAK on her blog for people that participate and if you join the group on Myspace there is a random drawing for a prize once a month. This month it's MY LITTLE SHOEBOX....you know you wanna win that right?

So leave me a link if you decide to participate, I would love to see it!!! Thanks for visiting today and I hope that you create something fun with your time!

Mini Book Class

Supplies: All Bo Bunny Mango Luau Papers, Stickers, and Ribbons; Bazzill Cardstock, Cat's Eye Inks, Kaiser Craft Flowers, Glimmer Mist, Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher, EK Success Border Punch

This is the mini book that I am going to be teaching at a retreat in Nov. My first ever "class" that I am going to teach. Little nervous, but hopefully I will be a good and fun teacher.

The book is made from toilet paper rolls.I got the basic idea for the book from the internet and I cannot remember exactly where I first saw one of these. I would love to take credit for the idea, but I saw it on a blog (that I didn't bookmark) and went from there. The retreat is a Luau theme, so the papers work well!!
(if you click on the pics, you can see more detail!)

The pictures/pages go in order...just go back and forth across the page when looking at them. Thanks for stopping by today and taking a look. Now, off to figure the 2 page layout that I might do as a class.....Anyone wanna help? I am a one page girl, so it takes me forever to figure stuff out for a 2 page!!! Have a scrappy night!--Katrina

Sneak Peek for Scrapbook Challenges

Ok, so I am DYING to post this layout. You are going to LOVE the sketch for this. It is so great to work with. But here is the kicker.....YOU are going to have to come back on Monday to see the finished product! I can only post sneaks here until then! (and trust me, I am dying to post the entire layout!) :)

This layout has a lot of firsts for me, so be sure to check back on Monday for it. I am going to try to post the mini album I made for our LSS retreat in Nov. I am trying to figure out the best way to post the pics.....I like to show the entire thing, so everyone gets a feel for it, but I need to probably make a collage type of pic. Will work on that later......

For now, check out the peeks!!!!

oh and TIFFANY G. if you are reading this....I saw the layout you did...with the RIBBON....you know what I am talking about!!! Good job! :)

Have a Scrappy kinda of weekend!--Katrina

Sketch 160 for Scrapbooking Challenges

Hey everyone! Hope you are having a wonderful holiday, no matter where you are. I know there are a couple of "different" holidays besides it being Labor Day weekend here in the US!

I finally get to post my first layout that I did as a design team member for Scrapbook Challenges. I am so excited to be a part of this team and group. There are some awesomely (is that a word?) talented people on there and we would love for you to come and join in! If you do the layout see below about leaving a link on Pamela's blog...or you can leave it here and I will see that the group gets to see it!

I got to use my MS loopy border punch set for the first time on the layout! I messed up on the very last punch, but luckily artistic license was available and I covered it! The punch set worked great and I found another set, that I am hoping to get to use today!

Now, over on
Pamela's World of Scrap blog she is doing RAK for people that do the sketch and post a link to it on her blog. Or if you join the Scrapbook Challenges group on Myspace you have a chance to win the sponsor prize for the month from My Little Shoebox!!! And check out the layouts the DT made from the sketch. :) Links to all their blogs are on my sidebar and Pamela has the individual layouts posted also!

I hope everyone has a scrappy day and I am sad that I have to go back to work tomorrow....ICK! I am going to try a little project later today or tonight and if it works, I will post a tutorial here...if not, I won't! Ha ha.....it's for a necklace, so we will see how it goes!

Making a habit of blogging....and a layout...

Supplies: Basic Grey Junebug line papers, chipboard and letters;
Cat's Eye Inks; Ribbons Unknown

So, I seem to be making a habit of blogging on my lunch hour really quick....mmm...wonder what is up with that?!

Without further ado, here is a layout that I haven't put up yet. It's all Basic Grey Junebug yummieness... (spell check wants me to put chubbiness????). I had a hard time scrapping with this paper. I LOVE the line, but I think I was struck by the "it's too pretty to cut" bug and just couldn't do it.

So, I just jumped in and started doing some stuff with it. I have another layout...I need to get the title on that I love with the same line.

So, tell what what is YOUR favorite paper line(s)? (notice, you can have more than one!) I am always on the lookout for new to me papers....I just been exposed to some...Nikki Sivils, Basic Grey, Cosmo Cricket, Sassafras, and My Little Shoebox (who I WANT more of), just to name a few......I would love to find more...My wallet probably won't like it...but I would. :)

My Layout for Sketch 159

Supplies: All Cosmo Cricket Papers Girl Friday line, Lace and Ribbon are unknown, Making Memories and American Crafts Thickers, Cat's Eye Inks

Here is my take on Sketch 159 for the group Scrapbook Challenges...I couldn't resist the sketch!!! This paper was so fun to work with. I had the "Crafting Kit" for Girl Friday, but I didn't use but one sheet of paper! I used the insert that came in it that showed everything for all of the smaller elements on the page. Now I still have full sheets of paper to play with!!!

I would love to see your take...feel free to leave a comment and give me a link to it so I can see what YOU come up with!

Have a scrappy day!
